My 2xGreat Grandmother Elizabeth Humphrey Gray had a sister that possibly lived in Scotland Co, Paulina Humphrey who married James Meyers who went west from Hillsboro, Fleming County, Kentucky, in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Other siblings of Elizabeth & Paulina that settled in Missouri were: William I., Wesley Cook, Rufus Gabriel "Gabe", and Martin Humphrey, Eliza Humphrey Stice. Elizabeth Humphrey Gray also had a daughter who moved to Missouri, Nannie Gray Pence, and a Granddaughter Lizzie Gray Pence. Paulina Humphrey Meyers must have divorced and married a MILLER, and she died in Craig County, OK. James Meyers died in Lincoln Co., NE. Would appreciate any info on the above mentioned family

Martin Humphrey was married to Martha Logan or Martha L. Townsend (maybe the "L" stands for Logan). Need help in locating burial place for Martin. Martin Humphrey was son of Rev. My husband and I were born in Davenport, and attended public schools. Was your mother a teacher? Karol Edwards
Do you have Adolph Bergthold and Barbara Hohle in your line? They lived in Iowa in the mid to late 1800's. ----- Original Message ----- From: <nbivens@earthlink.net> To: <MOSCOTLA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2003 11:18 AM Subject: [MOSCOTLA] Re: Bergthold family > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Bergthold > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RMB.2ACE/451.1 > > Message Board Post: > > I am a Bergthold, daughter of Jerome and Beatrice. Named by Hon. S. W. B. Carnegy, now of Canton, in honor of the land of his ancestors. He surveyed and named the town of Edinburg in this county, and also the town of Edina, in Knox County. The first courts in Scotland were held at Sand Hill, but in 1843, the county seat was located at Memphis. NOTE: This book was originally published in 1888. My reprint is from 1970. Hi Margaret! Didn't we just correspond last month? I was going to Scotland Co to look for Harris'? Anyhow, I would be curious to know what your dad says about the Jeffries. Don't know too much about them but learned a little on my trip. William Felix (known as Felix) Jeffries died suddenly in April 1895. His wife, Maggie (Margaret Ellen Harris) was left with three small children. Otis married a Blanche Seanch, John seems to have disappeared, Fred moved in with his aunt and uncle (Nancy and Dex Rounsavelle) and married Grace Duell, and Willie died in 1911. I found a probate document indicating Maggie died before September 1909 but that's it. Felix is buried in Edinburgh Cemetery but Maggie's not there (I looked). Oh yes, Roberta is a daughter of Fred Jeffries. That area around Indian Creek sure is pretty. Did a fair amount of driving around and really enjoyed it. Thanks for checking, Roberta was her granddaughter. Do you suppose there is a list somewhere of the total burials, rather than just the headstones? Is there an organization that maintains the cemetery? Would they have something? It's a wonderful little cemetery, I was really impressed when I visited there in May. Ellen, I will ask dad about the Jefferies when I call him on Father's day tomorrow. Yes, that is a pretty area around Indian Creek. Dad owned land around the area for years. I often have dreams of the Rector Place that is just West of the Cem. Dad sold that first years ago and is for sale again, but they want like 800 an acre for it.
