Joan, Thanks for the imput. I know DAR and SAR approve of Nicholas Sr. although Nicholas Jr woould have been more the age. I just saw the flag and someone at the church told me that flags were placed for people who served in the war. I wondered who had determined Nicholas Jr. did. The Lawn Ridge community in Scotland Co. is an area north of Memphis, in East Union Twp., in and around the Lawn Ridge Church and cemetery. There was also a Lawn Ridge store just north of the church but the building has been gone for several years now. Ellen Davison's book focuses on Lawn Ridge but it also includes a lot of other information on the county and area. It is a wonderful book. I too am somewhat confused. David's first wife died Dec 28 1834 so Louisa b. 1833 would have to be his first wife's child along with Mary W who was born Apr 27 1825.. My records show that David Allen's second wife was Eliza B. HUSTON, b. Feb 12 1806 in KY, m Aug 19, 1835 in Boone Co. KY, d. May 19 1881 in Scotland Co. MO. (My source for this was his military record, War of 1812). I only had two children listed, Volney and Strechley by his second wife so I'm pleased to add your information. In the 1820 Boone Co. Ky census report, it shows a Streakley (sp?) Allen as head of household and David also head of household. In David's household there was one male 25-44 years old, one female 0-10 yrs old and one female 16-25. In the 1830 census, Streshley is again listed as head of household, also David Allen. In both households there is a male ages, 30-50. Since this is too early to be David's son, I assumed this Streshley was a brother whom David later named his son after. What are your thoughts and do you think Louisa was possibly a daughter of David and Sybella instead of David and Eliza? I am confused. Were there two Strechley Allens ? My records indicate that David Allen married Eliza (Maiden name not known). I have names of four children: [1] Louisa, born 18 Jul 1833, became second wife of Mathew Buchanan; [2]Strechley born 4 may 1840, he married Eliza Virginia Buchanan, sister of Mathew Buchanan, [3] Volney and [4] John W. Allen. My records indicate that Strechley and Eliza were married 25 Feb 1861, in Scotland Co., Missouri. Their children were: [1] Agnes Katura (b. 4 Jan 1862;} [2] Edward Riban 9b.1 May 1864) [3] Flora Bedford( 17 Nov 1867); [4]James Wallace (b. 4 May 1870} [5]William (B. 16 May 1873) [6] Mary Belle (b. 16 Mar 1875); [7] Olive Appeline (b.25 Feb 1879) and [8] Myrlte9b. 26 May 1882) Allen.
