My gggrandfather and grandmother from Miami had their baby baptized there in the Catholic Church. The town didn't last long. I found this record in a FHL Catolog film. Good luck! Sallh
Shackelford was founded around 1847 by a group of Irish settlers who had come from Charleston, SC. It was originally known as Irishtown. St. Mary's was built on ground donated by one of the Langan family and was located north of the present town. I remember visiting relatives in Shackelford, one of them the local pastor, up until the 1960's.
