Yes, I've seen the census records also: wife and children, too. Last year the Godfrey Library in CT printed out a copy of the census. Evidently the parents, or Santa himself, had the sense of humor in this "Christmas" tale. My mom's family (Dille/Dilley-Fish Creek community and Erwin/Harris around Miami) lived in Saline County for years. She was born in Carroll county, but wasn't aware of a Santa Clause. She still has relatives in Saline county, cousins-- Cotts and Keytons. I've never been to Saline County.
