I'm trying to find the exact location of the following schools that are no longer in existence: Shackleford School - Saline County - - The name of this school was transferred from a town Obviously in or near Shackleford, but I can't place it. Star School - Saline County Webb School - Saline County - - This school was named for a local family. Whites Island School - Saline County - - This school was named for a local family. Mike - I'm not certain of the exact location of the Webb school but I have a photo of my grandmother's class. She was born in 1908 and my notes say she attended Webb School near Oak Grove, Missouri but I am not certain this was correct. Her parents George and Emma (Mueller) Baldus were married on February 28, 1906 near Mt. Leonard, Missouri. They first lived on a farm in an area called "Blind Pony", about five miles northeast of Sweet Springs, Missouri. Their farm is now part of the southwest corner of the Blind Pony Conservation Reservation in Saline County, Missouri. Later they moved to a portion of the Joseph Baldus farm known as the Crank farm, where a new house had been built for them. So the Webb School would have been near one of these locations. I would be very interested in knowing exactly where it was located also. Mike - I just located my photos of the Webb School and it says Lafayette County not Saline County as I thought. Maybe that's the problem you have locating it. I have a photo taken in 1920 and one of my grandmother's 8th grade class taken about the same time. Let me know if you are interested in seeing them.
