More from Vivian's Bible Herbert B. Orear Herbert Basil Orear, 82, of 5216 Rockhill road, one of th first operators of a motor car rental agency here, died yesterday at Trinity Lutheran hospital. He had been ill about two months. He operated the Orear Drive-Yourself company for many years and was responsible for springing the Hertz Rent-a-Car franchise to Kansas City. Later he was manager and served on the board of directors of the former Kiss-Skiles motor car rental company until he retired in 1949. Mr. Orear was born in Orearville, Mo., and was a graduate of the Chillicothe Business college. He lived in Kansas City about 55 years. He was a member of the Community Christian church and was past chairman of the general board and an elder. He was also a member of the Sertoma Club of Kansas City and the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Orear and his wife, Mrs. Florence B. Orear of the home, observed their 56th wedding anniversary last July. Also surviving are a daughter, Miss Lilla Belle Orear, San Francisco, and three granddaughters. Services will be held at 11:30 oclock Monday at the Stine and McClure chapel; cremation. Members of the Community church official board with be honorary pallbearers.
