Hi: I am not related to your James Johnson - but noticed with interest that he was born in Canada and must have immigrated about the same time that Peter Lamear and Abe Allenberg did. Peter and Abe owned a brick making factory in Marshall, Saline County. I have been trying to gather more information about those who came together from Canada - mainly, why this area of Missouri? That must have been quite a journey! Donnagene: In your searching for your Johnston/Johnson family from Canada, did you come across the names of Peter Lamear and/or Abe Allenberg? They both were born in Canada about the same time and settled in Saline County too. I have some information on the Lamear family (Peter married Amanda Hinton/Obrien). Peter and Abe owned a brick making factory in Marshall. If you come across the names, I would like to correspond with you. I am writing to Peter's great granddaughters and have his naturalization letter from Saline County - that might be a source for you too.
