    3. Has anyone been able to answer this? I'm also very curious, as I have several ancestors who came from Ireland. I have a copy of 'the application to become a citizen' for Peter Lamear of Canada dated 1871. Can someone direct me where to go to find these? 3. Joanna: I don't know whether I can help a whole lot. The person I was helping (I live in California and she lives in Illinois) had a copy of her gr grandfather's naturalization letter (he came from Canada to Saline County, Missouri). She wanted to find the original - and here in California the naturalization files are kept within each state's Recorders office - I didn't know about Missouri. I was told that they are kept at the National Archives in Missouri (they said no) and at the County - which is where she went - and did not find it. My part in this is that the person whose record she wanted to find was married to my great grandfather's sister so I was a bit removed from the person himself.
