Matilda (Metcalf/Medcalf) Purcell was born in Nelson County, KY April 22, 1817 and James Purcell was born in Breckinridge County, KY December 25, 1809, raised and education in Hardin County, KY. They relocated to Arrow Rock, Saline County 1855. William Quinn Purcell, son of James was elected JP of Grant Pass in 1876. Also owned and operated a drug store in Malta Bend. Thomas James Purcell, adopted son of James, was editor of Malta Bend Democrat. Thomas shot and killed William Bailey in Malta Bend earily 1910's and spent the remainder of his life in prison.... What a history....
