Surnames: Thomas, Campbell, Millsap, Bedell, Albertson, Dawson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JMB.2ACE/978 Message Board Post: I am looking for any info on Mary Campbell Thomas who is listed on the 1880 census living in Saline Co. My grandmother Sadie Ellen was born in 1880/81 In Saline Co, Mo. Her death certificate says her parents are Allen Thomas and Mary Campbell. In 1900 Allen is living in Kansas City, Kansas with a new wife. Census says they've been married for 7 years. My grandmother, her brother and half brother are living with them. Does anyone have any info on what happed to Mary Campbell Thomas? Her last son was born in 1883-85 in Mo. I believe that she died as family history says that Sadie didn't care for her stepmother and that her father was mean. Seems like if her Mother was alive, that she would be living with her. I haven't been able to find any record of a death or burial, but no record of divorce either. Any suggestions? Thanks in andvance for any help. Sharon

Would his death records be in Missouri or in Illinois where the body was interred? He was a railroad engineer and the body was escorted back to Illinois for burial by members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers of Slater. I have not been able to find anything telling how he was killed.

    3. You might be speaking of Marshall habilitation Center. They are a state institution for the Mentally Retarded. Go to a search engine and enter "Marshall, Mo habilitation Center" and you will get their address and phone #, you can open the site and find a lot of info. They do have a cemetery on grounds. 1. Re: [MOSALINE] Birth, Marriage, and death dates for Duffey's of Saline County...
    2. I am a grandson of Christina Veronica Duffy (you show Duffey) born Feb 26, 1875 in Saline County, Missouri to Christopher Duffy and Kate Keating. She married Emil Gerd Hagedorn on March 3, 1908 in Slater, Missouri. There were three children, Vincent F. Hagedorn (my father), Katherine Alida Hagedorn Gotmer, and Leo Christopher Hagedorn. All three are now deceased, with ongoing lines. I have a picture of Christopher Duffy and his wife Kate, but little substantiated biographical information. I had thought they both came here from Ireland. Family history says that Kate Keating's mother was Margaret Kennedy, from County Galloway, Ireland. She (Kate) was thought to have immigrated to America in 1865 with a sister, settling in St. Louis for a time before coming to Saline County (Sweet Springs area). My records show the following children to Christopher and Kate: 1. Margaret ( no further information) 2. Mary married to Frank Weinand 3. Christina Veronica 2-26-1875 to 1-31-1964 married to Emil Hagedorn 4. Catherine married to John McCory 5. Effie married to Ray Miller 6. Pete never married 7. Tom never married 8. Christopher never married 9. Alan married to Lula Squires Any information you have about the Duffy (Duffey), Keating lines would be appreciated.

They are on the Glasgow census for 1870 and back to Saline in 1880 and it says he is crippled. In 1870 Betsy is still shown with her parents. I imagine Luvenia named her firstborn after her younger sister. Couldn't find anything other than the marriage and census info.

    3. Patti: It really depends on which school you are talking about. There was one that was on a gravel road about 2 Miles East of Marshall Junction it was 300 to 400 yards off of old 40 hiway. I graduated from the 8th grade from that one room school house in 1949. It was used up until about 1952 or 53 then everyone was transfered to the new school which was a couple of miles east of there on 40 hiway. If you were on I-70 and saw an old school that was probably the school you saw. The first one I mentioned was called Prairie Lawn. I don't remember what they called the new school. We lived in that area and all I ever heard Marshall Jct. called was just that. If you have any other questions about that area I will try to help you. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JMB.2ACE/976 Message Board Post: When researching the Cornine family I found a reference to the Shackelford School. You can find it on Ancestry.com-look for Cooper County, Missouri, Cemetery Records, Vol 1-12. If you do a search for Cornine or Dority you will find the following description. Berea Church and Cemetery are located in Cooper County near the Pettis County line. Its one acre site was a family buring ground for the family of Isaiah Cornine since 1854, the date on the oldest stone. It was known as Lost Corner because it was "lost" from the original surveys, overlooked by accident. Thus, when the church was built it was called Lost Corner Church. Shackelford School, directly west across the road, was likewise called Lost Corner School. The paragraph goes on, talking mostly about the church. It shows the location as; From I-70, at Blackwater exit, take Rt Z, west for three miles then turn south (left) and go over I-70 and about four to five miles. The cemetery is visible from the road, on the east (left) side on a curve. There is a sign marking the entrance.
