Surnames: Smith, Wiley, Kelly, Carrico Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JMB.2ACE/612.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello Melinda, First of all I was all wrong. I don't think Lloyd Calvin is a descendent of Paschal Smith. I have searched the family back to James Quincy Smith b. 1836 in Illinois or Missouri. He may be the son of Jesse Smith born in 1803 in North Carolina. I still need to verify that. Lloyd Calvin Smith was married to Nora Faye Black. I have been searching for her family. There are two possibilities. It would be helpful if you contacted Mildred. She would know and we could go from there. After Nora and Lloyd divorced Nora married a Hinkle and had a son Marvin Hinkle. So Lloyd and Nora had Blanche, Opal, and Mildred. Then Lloyd and Mandia had James (my husbands Dad), Irene and Homer. Homer is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery along with other family members. I would appreciate it if you would email me lindawatsonsmith@netscape.net. Mildred gave me the names of your children but I wasn't aware of your married name Tucker. So nice to hear from you. Glad to share what I know. Quite a few twists and turns in this family. Linda

I am very new to this & this is part of my family, but there seems to be something missing or I could be wrong. I grew up& still live in Strasburg/PH area. My grandmother Blanche Fern Smith Hoover & her sister Mildred Manford of Holden took care of their ...step-mother Mandia Ellen Smith for years. If I remember correct they had a brother who died (next to train tracks from heat or exhaust?) I know he's buried at PH cemetery & remember visiting a grave with my grandma when I was young. My question is.... who was Loyd Calvin married to before grandma mandy & was there other children? Thanks for your help, Melinda Albin-Tucker albin2tucker@hotmail.com

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JMB.2ACE/980 Message Board Post: I am sorry I did not read these messages earlier. My sister and I walked the entire Fairview Cemetery at Sweet Spring, Mo on July 22, taking pictures of the tombstones of our ancestors who are buried there. The cemetery is easily located. It is right on the main road leading into the small town of Sweet Springs after you have left I-70. This is a fairly large cemetery, very well maintained. It was extremely hot and dusty the day we were there. A portion of the cemetery is dedicated to the burials of those who were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs. If you have difficulty locating a grave you can go to the City Hall where they have a map of who bought each of the lots in the portion not dedicated to the burials of those from the Lutheran Church. The Church office has a record of who bought the lots for those members and using that we were able to easily locate the graves we wanted. If I can help you in anyway let me know.

    3. When you find a contact person for the Fairview Cemetery, will you please post it to the mail list? I have family members (they lived in Salt Pond, just down the road so to speak) and I have searched every cemetery list in Saline County and have not found even a clue to follow. So, with a real live person to ask a question of, I would be delighted. They may even be in Fairview with markers that have deteriorated - from the 1850s to the 1880s. Classification: Cemetery Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JMB.2ACE/979.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Any funeral home in the area should be able to help you find a contact person for a listing of people buried in the cemetery. Chances are the funeral home itself will have a listing. If they are unwilling to help you, contact the local library. Phone numbers can be found at Smart Pages: http://smartpages.com/ Findagrave.com has three listings for a Fairview Cemetery in Saline County. One or more may be duplicates. Not many people have submitted burials yet. Perhaps you might consider adding memorial pages to aid other researchers? I've found many distant "cousins" who have left memorial pages there of mutual ancestors. Some of the biographical data submitted by well-meaning folk may not be correct, but seeing a photo of the tombstone at least points a researcher to a location they can continue their research. This link allows you to "Browse Cemeteries By County" http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csb The front door entry to Findagrave is: http://www.findagrave.com/ Hope this helps, Molly

    3. Danna, There are two Fairview Cemeteries in Saline Co. MO. The one you are interested in is at Sweet Springs and it is located on the east side of the road as you enter Sweet Springs. It is a fairly large cemetery for that area and it is very well maintained. Look at this web site under Fairway Cem. and I think you will find what you want...maybe even the listing of your ggggrandparents. Happy hunting. Sorry, but I do not live in that area and do not have a phone book that I can help with the address. Hopefully, someone local will see your email and be able to help you with that. I have visited that cemetery many times as my grandparents are buried there. http://www.rootsweb.com/~mosaline/tombstones.htm Sheila dgi718@hotmail.com wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Surnames: Bowman >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JMB.2ACE/979 > >Message Board Post: > >Looking for an address for Fairview Cemetery in Saline County, Missouri. 1. From List Mom - A few items to think about.
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, If you are interested in knowing about other genealogical mailing list available, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any Rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. If you are having problem and I do not answer you right away, know that I will. I like many of you work full time outside of my home. I am fortunate that I can check my e-mail any time I wish, but know that there are spaces of time I cannot. I always check my e-mail each and every evening and will respond to message as quickly as possible. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. When posting a query regarding a surname it would help all of us if you would put your surname in CAPS. This way the members can easily pick out the surnames you are looking for. On the other hand when the entire message is in CAPS we feel that we are being yelled at. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now, the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting from one from one of us. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at Kathleen.burnett@era.com or in the evenings at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. 7. If your list has the gateway open, meaning the messages posted on the board also hit he list, know that every once in a while a SPAM message that is caught by the Board filter slips through the gateway and hits the list before it can be stopped. JUST DELETE IT. By responding to the list regarding he offending message, you just continue it on, and there is not one thing I can do about it at that point. Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. Kathleen Burnett List Mom KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net
