    1. [MOSALINE] From List Mom - Comcast buy out
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, If you were effected by the Comcast buy out, then you need to read this, if not delete it. Just this evening, I have receive over 100 requests for me to change e-mail address to a Comcast address. Many of these requests mention multiple lists of which the sender needs their e-mail address changed. It will take me a good week or so to get through them all. My suggestion is; If you still have the ability to unsubscribe go to PASSWORD Central at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ type in your old e-mail address, and follow the directions. You will receive an e-mail from which you can unsubscribe. If you can't do this, then you will just need to re-subscribe with your new address and let the old one bounce off. To re-subscribe this go to John Fuller's mailing list site http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html or remember you can subscribe and or unsubscribe by sending only the word UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE to XXXXXX-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM or XXXXXX-D-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM if you are on the Digest List. Naturally change the XXXXXX to the name of the list. If all else fails, contact me, but be understanding if it takes me a while to get to you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [MOSALINE] New database at state archives
    2. Jefferson City News Tribune, June 24, 2003 New database delves back into state's legal history By CHRISTINA STUEVE News Tribune A new historical database of court cases will benefit law students, researchers and family genealogists. The database, available at www.sos.state.mo.us, allows researchers to look up Missouri Supreme Court records dating back to 1790. More than 7,000 cases from 1790-1851 are listed on the site. A partial listing of cases is available to 1871. The goal is to create an index for case files from the 18th-21st century. Currently, all cases prior to 1857 have been processed. "The database gives people a way to go back in time and look at cases of the time," Supreme Court spokeswoman Beth Riggert said. Slavery, duels, women's issues and economic problems are topics listed in the database. Other cases evolve from French fur trappers to steamboat cases of the Mark Twain era. Court dockets have names of prominent and unknown litigants. "This is a fascinating approach to understanding our state's history and the past," Secretary of State Matt Blunt said. The project was put together by Blunt's office, the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Missouri Historical Society. Funding comes from the Supreme Court of Missouri Historical Society. About $45,000 has been spent on the project before this year, Francis Duda, president of the Supreme Court of Missouri Historical Society said. The online case file project was started when the Missouri Supreme Court transferred its case files to the Missouri State Archives in 1971. In 2000, the Missouri State Archives and the Supreme Court of Missouri Historical Society started to provide better access to the Supreme Court case files.

    1. [MOSALINE] Memorial Day - Lonely Graves
    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. For those of you who are visiting the cemeteries and graves of your loved ones, your ancestors this weekend and have a few extra flowers, think of placing them on one of the lonely graves which are never visited. Or, if you are living in an area where you have no one, think of visiting a cemetery and placing flowers by one of these lonely graves. I live in Logan Utah and tomorrow I will be visiting several local cemeteries and will be placing flowers on graves. Over the past years I have adopted these graves, these people and I hope that someone out there is doing the same for my loved ones. This is the day to remember those who came before us, who forged the paths that we now walk. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    1. [MOSALINE] Need Someone Local
    2. Bev Gardner
    3. Is there anyone on the list who lives in Saline County and could make a quick run to the Courthouse? I'd like to know if there are any estate records on file for Eglantine Hedrick (Headrick) or Joseph Hedrick (Headrick). If there are any records, they would be after 1880 and before 1900. I have Eglantine and her son Joseph listed in the 1880 Liberty Township census. Thanks. Bev.

    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, It is that time of year when some of you will be leaving on Vacations. You might want to consider unsubscribing from the list while you are gone and then resubscribing when you return. The easiest way to do this is by using Password Central. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will receive a e-mail list of all Rootsweb Mailing Lists you belong to. You can unsubscribe using this e-mail. Save it and you then have a list of mailing lists you want to re-subscribe to. When you return, you can check the Archives for this list at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Just type in the name of the list and you can check the messages for the dates you were gone. The following was shared with me and I think it is one of the best Maps I have seen showing the growth and history of the United States. http://www.animatedatlas.com/movie.html I appreciate each of you and know that it is because of you our list is the success it is. 3. Karren: I also would like to find a Genealogy or Historical Society in Saline and Pettis Counties. However - the Marshall Public Library http://www.marshallpubliclibrary.com/ holds some of the archives and Kathy Peuster, Librarian Assistant has been above and beyond in helping me in my genealogical and historical questions - brick wall family members. I phoned her first and then sent her my questions. The email address shown for her is her home email address so I find it easier to phone her. Kathy is the GREATEST! I have requested information from other libraries without the kindess and genuine concern for requests that Kathy gives willingly. Some libraries don't even bother to answer you. We all have genealogy information (Bible records, marriage records, birth certificates, census reports, etc.) but now we have a chance to bypass paper work, documents, and family trees and find "genetic cousins" via DNA. These tests could help you find another generation to your past. The test is easy and only costs $99. Their children in 1850 were Elisha, 10; Mary E., 8; William, 6; Sarah, 4; and Rebecca, 2. In 1860, Mary E and Rebecca are missing and the additions are Susan J., 10 and Martha, 6.
