>From Sydney, Australia, I am attempting to find information on my great grandmother Janet Morton. From information on the Dunbartonshire Census for Bonhill she is shown as aged 49 in 1871 which suggests she was born in 1822. I know that she married Hugh Stevenson in 1854 and subsequently she had six children. Her husband died leaving her with six children aged between 15 and 4. One of her sons, my grandfather also named Hugh Stevenson, migrated to South Australia in 1876 on board Erato. The mother and other children migrated between 1876 and 1881 as they do not appear on the 1881 census for Dunbartonshire. She is shown as having been born in New Hill Ayrshire. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. Janet Stevenson, Sydney, Australia.
My Mortons come from Sweden....Morton Mortonson was the furthest back I can find....If I run into names that I think will help...I will forward them on to you....and would appreciate if you could do the same. I am looking for parents and siblings of John J Morton and Jane Oliver He is the nephew of John Morton the signer of the Declaration of Independence. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Janet IM Stevenson" <JanetIMStevenson@hotmail.com> To: <MORTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 29, 2000 7:19 PM Subject: [MORTON] re Janet Morton > >From Sydney, Australia, I am attempting to find information on my great grandmother Janet Morton. Hello Beverly, Sorry, but none of the names you have mentioned apart from Morton have come into my field of interest just yet, but that is not to say it will not happen as I have only just started work on my great grandmother and have hit nothing but brick walls up to this point. Should I find a connection with your Mortons as I make progress (which I hope I do) I shall be in touch. Regards, Janet Stevenson, Sydney, Australia. ----- Original Message ----- From: Beverly Teibel <bteibel@neo.rr.com> To: <MORTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 12:01 PM Subject: Re: [MORTON] re Janet Morton > My Mortons come from Sweden....Morton Mortonson was the furthest back I can > find....If I run into names that I think will help...I will forward them on > to you....and would appreciate if you could do the same.
