Having researched the Morton family/families for years, I know that your tast is monumental!! You say that your branch came from Southampton. Do you know that for certain?!! It would be great to have that bit of knowledge. Where did they settle here in the new world?--Virginia? New England? or where? Keep me posted for perhaps we can help each other. Hi Peggy thanks for your e-mail. Absolutely sure from a village named hamble then to hound in Southampton we started as far as we can be sure with Thomas MORTON born in hound parish Hampshire married16/04/1693 Elizabeth SAMBAR they mostly stayed in hound and Bursledon the name continued until at some point it changed to martin. The martin's change over happened around about the year 1830 the martins continue to this day in Southampton England there is a branch of the family that disappeared we can find no trace of them its possible they left the country what do you think of my story?
