Anyway, it is very possible, I think, that our Mortons may have been connected since they were about the same age, left NC, traveled to west TN, and two of them were married to Steele women. My Eloisa Steele was from SC. Someone told me that a lot of the people who lived in western NC probably had gotten off the ships which brought them to this country in PA and traveled west before dropping down into NC. The coast of NC is not conducive to shipping because of the treacherous coastline. I thought it interesting. If you learn anything more, let me know. LaFern
