This is another Morton family. My line did not go to NC but rather came into VA in the 1600's, left for KY in the later 1700's where the paternal line died out. The maternal line went down to TN in the early 1900's. Sorry that I cannot help you on this one. PFTaylor
When looking at early 1786 census index I found Meshach MORTON in Caswell Co.NC Glouscester Dist. on page #004. Also nearby were Anthorite MARTIN on page #001, James MARTIN pg #005, Richard MARTIN pg #005 and Robert MARTIN pg #001. Because I have always heard that the MORTON people came to the USA with the Rev. William MARTIN I would like to determine if this is my MARSHALL MORTON. Does anyone out there have access to the 1786 North Carolina Census & what information does it give? Hope someone will be able to help me. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Patricia Camp-Mullis
Sorry, July, it doesn't connect. Marji

Hi Debra! This is Marji Morton (from Amarillo, Texas). My husband is connected to your line. Maybe you can help me with some of my "missing links". Arts' father was born in Dublin, Texas, his father (or my husbands' grandfather) was David Allen Morton, a son of Allen Morton, who is buried in Dublin (Lower Greens Creek cemetery). Allens wife was, supposeably, a Sarah Parris (or Parrish?) Bramlett. I have not been able to find any information on her or on David Allens, brothers or sister. A.C.Morton, Benjamin Thomas or Emily Morton. Do you have any knowledge about them? David Allens oldest children, Alma and Henry Bascom and Robert David were born in Lee County, Texas. There were 7 in all, Arthur Ray Morton, Sr. was #5, all have since passed away. Let me know if I can be of help to you. Marji my e-mail address is: ArtMorton@aol.com. P.S. My husband, Arthur Ray Morton, Jr. was born in 1936 in Rotan, Texas.

We don't have any Davids in our line of the family but there is a David noted in the Caldwell/Morton line of the family. Drs. David and Daniel wrote/collaborated on a volume of their research on the Morton family. They were from Missouri and have noted in their book that there are only 3 volumes printed. One is in the library of Congress in Washington, the second in the Newberry Library at Chicago, ILL and the third in the Public Library in Kansas. All of their information is not absolutely correct but it is accepted as THE volume on the family. You might like to research them at one of these facilities since they cannot be checked out of the library. Good searching. Peggy Fountain Taylor
This is not my family of Mortons. Qustion however, Henry Morton approx 1829--the father of all these Morton men?, Thomas H. Morton c. 1850's , Drury Morton approx 1850's, John Morton c.1850's all from Georgia.? I wonder where they came from? Do you know? Our family is from Virginia and then Kentucky--extinct line from approx 1830's with the death of a William Morton son of William Ragland Morton, etc. Peggy Fountain Taylor
