    2. Patricia, I heard a rumor at one time from a family member that our name might have been Throckmorton at one time. Since I can't find the parents of my David MORTON, my gg-grandfather, there's no telling whether it was anything other than MORTON. I am determined to find some evidence that David Morton was not the first person in the witness protection program. Ha. Nina

    1. Re: [MORTON] Book Search
    2. Hi there. There was a Daniel MORTON in the Campbell County, TN census. One male, 17 years old and he was a farm laborer. There was also a Dorcas MORTON who married Edmund Strawn in Guilford County, NC on 11/13/1822. I try to keep a lot of MORTON names in my database and I just did a quick search for a Daniel MORTON and a woman by the name of Dorcas. Hope it helps some. I know it's hard working under the circumstances you are, but please don't give up. All the MORTONs I know are just the best and if you ask them, I'm sure they will help you. I'll post your email on the Union County site in TN and see if anyone can help you. Peace from Pittsburgh, Nina MORTON T.

    2. Martha, my great great grandfather was a David MORTON also. Isn't that just ironic. If someone has the book, then if they don't post it on the open MORTON site, I will. Peace from Pittsburgh, Nina MORTON T.

    3. Nina Morton: Did I not receive an E-Mail from you quite some time ago, and you indicated that at one time the family name was THROCKMORTON, rather than MORTON. This Throckmorton name was the beginning of my Morton ancestry with James T. THROCKMORTON / MORTON b. circa 1783 in New Jersey. Am I correct? Could I hear from you? My Greatgrandfather was named Daniel D. Morton Born in Virginia in 1851 he died in 1930 and is buried close to Bristol,Tn. He had a son named Stephen Thomas born in 1882 he died in1917 he is also baried close to Daniel. A lady next to Daniel I think was his wife named Dorcas family name unknown. I was in an orphanage and its been real hard getting this far. Siblings are unknown to either man. Any names ring a bell. margie@theinnet.net

    2. Does anyone by chance have a copy or access to the following? The Ancestry of David Morton, by Daniel Morton, 1901. The Mortons and Their Kin, by Daniel Morton, 1908. I found these books listed on Ancestry.com and although they are from the Virginia area and I'm looking in North Carolina/TN, there is a chance, of course, that my MORTON group migrated from PA originally to VA, NC and then to TN. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Nina

    1. [MORTON] Edmund/Levi MORTON ca 1830's OH
    2. I am researching Edmund M. MORTON b. abt. 1815 in NY (from census). He married Roselinda WELLS in 1844 in Delaware Co., Ohio. I have three men living next to him or nearby in Delaware Co., OH that I think are related. Levi MORTON b. abt 1798 MA. Lewis MORTON b. 1806 MA. Edwin MORTON b. 1830 OH. None of them appear on the 1830 census in this county but a Lewis and Levi Morton appear on the 1830 census in Fairfield Co., OH. I don't know if they are the same ones. I have a fourth man that may be related, Darius MORTON b. abt 1803 MA. He didn't appear in Delaware County as early as the others but he lived near them and had the same occupation as Edmund and Edwin which was cooper. Does anyone have any info on these MORTONS? Martha
