    2. Tina : My ggrandfather was George Washington Morton, born in McMinn, TN, in 1855. He first married Annie C. Neil , 15 June 1880 in Blount Co. TN. They divorced in `1886. He remarried two or three times after the divorce. I have found another George W. Morton in my research and I believe he was from MO. I may still have the information on him. 3. Farrar, Do you have any Gerrard/Jerrod Morton (b. 1796)or Richard Osborn Morton (b. 1808)in your database? I have been trying for over a year to find the parents of these two, supposedly born in VA. Gerrard was married in Botetourt Co. VA and they both ended up in Indiana in 1830s. We have a book on the family from Indiana days, but cannot locate where in VA they came from/were born. Betty T.

    1. [MORTON] RE: Mortons in Charlotte/PE Co., Virginia

    3. I would greatly appreciate help in correcting the pedigree of my great great grandfather, Joseph/Joel Rice Morton, born 17 Jun 1819 Charlotte Co, VA, died 24 Feb 1891, Charlotte Co., VA, married Nov 1843 Prince Edward Co., VA (marriage bond) Martha Jane Foster 1824-1897, daughter of Stephen Foster and Elizabeth (Meadows) Foster. The marriage bond, the 1850 Prince Edward Co. census, and his son-in-law, Samuel Washington Daniel's family Bible show his name as Joseph R. Morton. All other sources, without documentation, show his name as Joel R. Morton. Joseph R. Morton is believed to be the son of Thomas Morton b. ca 1776 Charlotte Co., VA, d. aft 1843 in Charlotte Co., VA, and Nancy Boulton (Bolton) b. 1778, d. after Jun 1819. Joseph's marriage bond shows Thomas C. Morton, probably his brother, as surety. Thomas Morton ca 1776-after 1843, was the son of John and Elizabeth Morton, but some sources show he is the son of John Jr. (or Josiah, the son of Capt. John Morton) 1760's-1803 and Elizabeth Morton, others indicate he is the son of Capt. John Morton 1730-1796 and Mary Elizabeth Anderson, and one source shows him as the son of John Morton, Sr. and Elizabeth Frances Woodson. My files are filled with unlinked Morton information that I will be glad to share. Thanks for any help in clearing up this dilemma. Farrar Edwards

    1. Re: [MORTON] E. H. Morton
    2. Hi Marji, Good to hear from you again. I don't know what county in AL that Edward H. MORTON was born. All I have for his birth is the year (1847) and the state (AL). I also don't know if there is a connection between MARY YIELDING and LOUISA YIELDING. Maybe there is someone on this list who knows. EDWARD H. MORTON was the s/o JOEL MORTON and MARY YIELDING. JOEL MORTON was the s/o JENOTHAN JOEL MORTON and LUCILLE "LUCY" DURHAM. JENOTHAN JOEL MORTON was the s/o MARSHALL MORTON, SR. and WINNIE. Take care, Debra Tucker

    2. Hello Debra! This information is interesting. I have not heard of an Edward H. Morton. Is this the Joel Morton that is related to Marshall Morton, Sr. and Winnie? I know our Allen Mortons first marriage was to a Louisa Yielding (or Yeilding). Wonder if Louisa and Mary are connected? Was it in Marshall Co. Ala. that Edward was born? Marji Morton

    1. [MORTON] E. H. Morton
    2. Can anyone tell me who the E. H. MORTON was who bought land in Henderson Co., TX on the following two dates? 1. 43.50 acres bought Dec. 16, 1879 2. 160 acres bought Dec. 3, 1884 In my file I have an EDWARD H. MORTON: B. 1847 AL who was the s/o JOEL MORTON and MARY YIELDING. Could this be him? And if this is the same fellow, I would appreciate learning more about him. His birth date and place is all I have for him (besides his ancestors back to MARSHALL MORTON, SR. and WINNIE). No spouse; no children. Debra Tucker
