    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Morse, Johnson, Bonett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UN2.2ACIB/1220 Message Board Post: WANTED: Information on Sarah MORSE b probably abt 1723, MA or NH, sister to Peter Morse who was among the first Selectmen of the town of Hampstead, Rockingham, New Hampshire. Sarah Morse married in Jan 1751 as his second wife, John Johnson 1711-1762 (Haverhill MA – Hampstead, NH), son of Deacon Thomas Johnson (1670-1742, Haverhill, MA) and Elizabeth Page who were married in 1700. John Johnson was also one of the first Selectmen of the town of Hampstead, NH. John Johnson was married first to Sarah Haynes, by whom he had 10 children, with five surviving their mother who died in Sept 1750. Sarah Morse (birth and death unknown; but she was a sister to Peter Morse); Probably born about 1723, but no good source for any dates on her. She remarried to a Samuel Way abt 1763, who died abt 1766-67 in Newbury, Vermont; and Sarah Morse Johnson Way may have married a third time to a Mr. Barnet [if that is the correct spelling]. She seems to have lived [perhaps died] in Enfield, Vermont. It is said she went to Vermont where one or more of her Johnson step-sons were living. John Johnson and Sarah Morse had seven children, with the last one born a few months before the death of their father. The children were: Sarah b 29 Oct 1751, twins Ruth and Elizabeth b 23 April 1754, Peter b 7 June 1756, Judith b 4 Apr 1758, Joh, b 9 Feb 1760, and Tamma or Tamar b 6 July 1761—surnamed JOHNSON. The youngest daughter, Tamma (or Tamar) Johnson born 6 July 1761 (just before the death of her father in April 1762), married about 1784 (after the close of the American Revolution) a returned soldier of that war, Joseph Bonnett (more often spelled Bonett), 1757-1824. They lived in Vermont. We know that Tamma was still living in 1836 when she petitioned Congress for a pension on her husband’s war service (he had had a pension during his lifetime and had also received bounty land, which he sold); we do not know her death or burial information – nor any official list of her children. My friend descends from this last child, Tamma Johnson who married Joseph Bonnett (Bonett)—a surname which is very often mis-transcribed in most records. We are willing to exchange information on any of these lines. We are especially interested in determining the parents of Sarah Morse and her brother Peter Morse… born abt 1720s in either Massachusetts or New Hampshire; and may have died in NH or Vermont.
