    1. Morse / Bumpus - Bumpass
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Morse, Bumpus, Bumpass Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UN2.2ACIB/1068.3.1.3.1.1 Message Board Post: y-DNA participants representing Ebenezer Morse, born around 1736 in Maryland or in the Northern Neck of Virginia, have participated in y-DNA testing. This Ebenezer had a daughter, Eunice Morse, who married Augustine Bumpass (b1768 prob. NC) in South Carolina. y-DNA Test results have been shared between the Morse Society and the Morse-2 y-DNA group. (The Morse Society y-DNA group represents, primarily, the northern New England Morse lines. The Morse-2 y-DNA group represents, primariy, the Morse and Moss lines south of there.) The resulting markers show that this Ebenezer Morse is somehow related to your Anthony Morse (and William Morse) of northern New England. My question is: Is your Morse - Bumpus connection and my Morse - Bumpass connection coincidental, or do you have any information showing part of your Bumpus line migrating into the southern states? As you know, genealogical research proves that early settlers in this country traveled in groups for many generations, so it may be possible that our Bumpus lines are related since our Morse lines are related as proven by y-DNA testing. Look forward to hearing from you. Debbie McArdle
