Residence was primarily Charlestown...Cordis St. in 1875; Green St. in 1885. Occupation was that of a Teamster. He married Mary Ann Judkins in Boston 1 Jan 1852. She was the daughter of Mary Ann Winn and Peter Judkins. My gr gr grandmother, Josephine (Powell) Pierce was the dau. of Mary Ann (Winn) Judkins...by her 2nd marriage to Samuel D. Powell. Therefore, Mary Ann (Judkins) Morse was 1/2 sister to my gr gr grandmother. It appears Josephine's parents were both deceased by 1844 and Josephine may have lived with her 1/2 sister and husband for some time under their care, as she was a young child when orphaned. I have Josephine's bible which is inscribed "To Mrs. J. C. Pierce from C. R. Morse: Dec. 25, 1885". There is a grave marker at the Pierce burial plot in Wyoming Cem. in Melrose that gives only "C. R. Morse, 2nd Mass. Inf.", which is honored with a GAR flag, however I cannot find any records of his servi! ce in the Civil War. Burial records give his daughter Alice Maud Morse as being buried in the Pierce plot, but no record of him being there! Anyhow, Charles R. & Mary Ann (Judkins) Morse had the following children: 1. ?Wilson? Henry Morse, b. Abt. 1854 2. William Parker Morse, b. 28 Sep 1856 Charlestown, MA 3. Charles Arthur Morse, b. 14 Feb 1861 Charlestown, MA 4. Alice Maud Morse, b. 28 Sep 1863 Charlestown, MA; died 29 Nov 1918. I am hoping to find descendants of this family, as I haven't made much progress tracking down what became of them. Would love to hear from anyone relating to this Morse line.
