    3. I'll try to explain it here.. <grin>The gateway address is no secret <grin> Not of the Morse society [ http://morsesociety.org/ ] nor of Rootsweb [ http://www.rootsweb.com/ ] . First and foremost, Rootsweb and the Morse Society are in no way connected. Not at all, nada, nope. However, as administrator of this Morse Rootsweb surname List, I do have a url link set for the bottom of the Rootsweb list to the Morse Society as a helpful site for anyone needing more research help . [Your AOL also puts a message there about their free email] This is a rootsweb surname mail list. We are receiving these messages thru the Rootsweb Morse surname LIST. [ http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/m/morse.html#MORSE ] . There is also a Rootsweb Morse message BOARD[ http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morse/mb.ashx ] Now, on to the mysterious "gc-gateway@ rootsweb" email address. [BTW, you can NOT reply to it] If someone posts a message on the (Rootsweb or Ancestry) Morse Message Board it is "gatewayed" to the List so it is not arriving on the list from the original poster but via the "gateway therefore the "From" shows as gc-gateway @ rootsweb. com.....[If the message on the list is posted directly to the list from a subscriber, then that email addy shows on the message. ] The "from" address shows only on the original posting . Message Boards are open for posting from the general public rather than like the Surname Lists which allows posting by subscribers only. When a message is "gatewayed" to the list from the board, that message will include a URL for the board message ...also at the bottom of the message are instructions as to how to reply to that message== "Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board."==== If you read the message on the board it shows the email of the person posting the message there. 3. Thank you for being the administrator of the Morse Rootsweb surname List. If you are going to list the MORSE SOCIETY as one helpful link to all MORSE researchers, you may also want to add the link for the MORSE-2 y-DNA Test Group which also represents MORSE / MOSS researchers worldwide. Our public website has more than just y-DNA information. We also share information we have collected on most early MORSE / MOSS lines, especially (but not limited to) the states of Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky. 1. Re: [MORSE] New England Morse DNA results
    2. Dora Smith
    3. Debbie: I am fascinated by both the news of DNA results on the lines of William, Anthony, and Obadiah Morse, and the news that John Morse of Wallingford, Connecticut may be related to them. I would further like to know if there are any DNA findings for Samuel Morse, b 1576 (depending on which Samuel Morse he actually was), in Boxted, Essex, England, died in Medfield, Massachusetts. But I can't find the actual Y-DNA table for the New England Morse and Moss families anywhere. Your own page makes reference to the Morse Society, and they have a page about their DNA project, but I can't find a link to the results. How would I find them?
