I don't think yours and mine are the same, but I can't rule it out. If your William came from NJ, he might be the William Morse who married Elizabeth Coleman in Middlesex County in 1814. The IL Elizabeth I mentioned in my post would have been born abt 1790, but I know nothing of her other than what is published in the 1860 census. The William she lived with at the time was b. abt 1845. The other William I'm looking for is probably too old, and I don't have any evidence that he moved to AL, or anywhere else, for that matter. I suspect he's the William who married Anne Hollman on 6 May 1799 in Middlesex County, NJ. I would guess that this William lived in East Windsor, NJ, appearing on taxables from 1799 to 1810. He may be the same William "Moss" who was on East Windsor's taxables in 1797 and in neighboring Freehold in 1780. He could also have been there as late as 1818, as there is an unnamed Morse there in 1818, and a William Morris in 1817. The only other Morse/Morris/Moss taxables I know of in Middlesex County during that period were Asher (my 4th-g-grandfather), who moved from East Windsor to Freehold in 1817, and James Moss in Woodbridge (some 30 miles away) in 1786 and 1787. Hope this helps! Chris

NJ abt 1821) of Champaign County, Illinois, which included wife Esther; sons William (15), Charles (14), and Asher (10); 70-yr-old Elizabeth Morse; and 35-yr-old Mary A. Morse. In particular, I'm investigating any relationship of this family to Asher and/or William Morse/Morss, recorded in East Windsor (then Middlesex, now Mercer County) NJ from roughly the 1790s to about 1820. I suspect Garrett is William's son, but would very much appreciate confirmation and/or details. Thanks in advance! Chris

Allied families (related normally through marriage) may find things that you could overlook. You can find them by going to this page: http://stores.ebay.com/Tharpes-Rare-Books-and-CDs They even have name indexes on most of their pages. Use the search box, type in MORSE (check the box to search in titles & descriptions) Look for the 1898 in the title for this book. Others have Morse families in them too. Check them all out, never know you may have some valuable family information in the allied family books. Hope it helps someone, Jim
