Morse PRATTSVILLE — Cecil E. Morse of Prattsville died Monday, March 15, 1999, at Margaretville Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 18, 1913, in Bedell, the son of Robert and Anna Meisner. Mr. Morse was a longtime member of the Prattsville Fire Company and Rescue Sqaud, the Virgil E. Deyo American Legion Post No. 1327 in Prattsville and the James F. Carty, DSC VFW Post No. 1545 in Windham. He was also an avid hunter and fisher who enjoyed playing his harmonica. He is survived by his sons, Richard and wife, Emily, of Prattsville and Billy Butts of Hudson. He was the grandfather of Tonya and Kimberly Morse of Prattsville and William, Gordon, Brian, Ida, and Cathyann and their respective families. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Catherine, on Oct. 31, 1993, and his son, Kevin in 1975. After Nehemiah died in the war Mary married Levi Lawrence on Oct. 14, 1868 in Mauston, Juneau, Wisconsin. They were next seen in Germantown, Juneau, Wisconsin. Mary had two daughters with Levi. Inez Augusta and Alma Grace. They moved to Colorado and were in the 1885 Colorado census. Mary Sophia was buried in the Red Butte Cemetery, Aspen, Pitkin County, Colorado.

Can be acessed at Rawson Memorial Library site online. Asa Morse died during an attack of apoplexy at his home, six and a half miles west and two miles north of Cass City, on Wednesday morning. Earlier in the morning he performed his work about the barn in his usual manner, afterwards eating a hearty breakfast. Ten minures before his death he was apparently in his usual health. Mr. Morse was born in Athol, Mass, 85 years ago. In 1864 he married Miss Mary Wait at Yorkshire Center, NY, and the following year they moved to Michigan. Deceased is survived by his wife and three chidlren, Chas Morse of Elkton, Wallace Morse and Mrs. Ida Wood of Elmwood. The funeral was held at the residence this morning and interment made in Sourh Elmwood cemetery.
