Author: cmbriere1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morse/1363/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for a Joseph Marion Morse that was born in Germany somewhere. His fathers name is Anthony and they came over between 1850 and 1860 as they are on the 1860 census. Joseph was recorded as being 8 at the 1860 census. He married Emily Elizabeth Littlefield about 1895. They had 5 children, Fredrick, Guy, Grace, Alice, and Warren. Joseph died in 1911 and is buried in Holliston, Ma. Found in his papers were letters and orders from the military for a man named Joseph M. Cassius. I know Anthony got remarried to a woman named Elizabeth Myers and had other children but I don't know anything about Anthonys first wife Josephs mother. If anyone has information it would be greatly received and appreciated. 2. Debbie & Jim McArdle
    3. Talley: If there is a male MORSE still living in your line, I would suggest you participate in the y-DNA testing which should indicate which MORSE line Moses belonged to. There are two groups who work together on MORSE y-DNA. One is the Morse Society and the other is MORSE-2 of which I am one of the volunteer co-administrators. You can visit MORSE-2 and see our y-DNA chart at:www.familytreedna.com/public/Morse%2D2/ and you can find the Morse Society's website at: www.morsesociety.org/ Traditionally, the MORSE-2 group focuses on early middle & southern MORSE lines while the Morse Socieity focuses on the early New England area. y-DNA has shown that our two groups (north and south) share some common ancestors which is just one reason it is important that the two groups communicate with one another as we do. If you need any further information, I'd be happy to assist. 1. [MORSE] MORSE Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph which is identified as Minnie MORSE, Edith MORSE, and Miss BLANKENHORN which was taken in Pine Island, Minnesota. It is a postcard type photograph from the early 1900's with the three young women appearing to be in their teens or 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to their names, someone has also written "Friends of Mine" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I have found some information which appears to be a match with this family. Indications are that this may be a photograph of Minnie May MORSE b. 25 Mar 1888 in Pine Island, MN to parents John MORSE and Nettie Ann LUDWIG. Census records provide the following information regarding the family: 1900 census of Pine Island, MN: John M. MORSE, age 32, born Dec 1867, married 14 years, born WI, parents born WI/Germany, a Horse Dealer Nettie A. He eventually married Caroline Schoof abt. 1920, and had two sons: Carl James and Francis Alan. The family moved to Union Township, IN, abt. 1920-1921. Clifford was supposed to join them, but instead sent a letter saying he was beginning a new family and new life with someone else in Indiana. My tracks are cold on Clifford or Carl Clifford, but your locations and dates for Clyde match mine almost perfectly. Does any of this sound familiar to you? May we compare notes? Please advise.
