I'm Co-Adminstrator along with Amelia Morrow Gerlicher. We're not paid anything, this is part of our hobby of genealogy. DNA testing is a new tool for the genealogist, proving who's really kin to whom, biologically. The testing company we use will be mailing your DNA kit to you tomorrow. The kit is small so it shouldn't take too long getting to you. Instructions are included. It's a cheek swab, simple & painless, like brushing your teeth. Two vials are included in the kit, the second is just in case the first vial's DNA sample wasn't sufficient or became contaminated. Take your samples per instructions, I took mine before I brushed my teeth in the am, then the second sample the next am. Then mailed the kit back to the testing company. Got my results six weeks later. They sent a certificate showing my test results, plus there are seven or so "personal pages" prepared within the testing company's website, for specific DNA results, that only the donor can access. The testing company sends you the code (password) and kit number used to access your personal pages. Your privacy is guaranteed. Only a few staff members of the testing company, myself and Co-Administrator Amelia Morrow Gerlicher! know your name. You'll be assigned a kit number which keeps your name private. The testing company will send emails on any matches of your test results with other donors. That's where Amelia and I come in. Either Amelia or I will also email you with our analysis of your test results, especially if you match any of our current Morrow donors close enough for proof of kinship. "Close enough" means if you and another Morrow donor match at least 23 of the 25 markers and are no more than two single step mutations different on the remaining two markers. We will help coordinate between yourself and any Morrow donors of our group which you match. Usually I try to help further develop each donors Morrow lineage, but in your case, I hit the same "brick wall" you hit. Hopefully DNA testing will match you with one or more of our current donors and give you help towards finding more Morrow generations back of your Hugh Morrow born c.1832 in Ohio USA. But if no immediate matches occur, sooner or later, another donor will join and you'll have your match. DNA testing is here to stay. I'll be emailing later directly to your email address with other aspects of our Morrow DNA group. Thanks again for joining.
