According to a letter written from James to Robert in 1806 James was born on June 24, 1742. The family story is that he and Robert came to Baltimore and changed their name to Morrow upon landing. They had been in a fight with some Catholic Murrays on board ship and didn't want people to think they were Catholic (they were Presbyterian). James apparently stayed in Maryland and Robert went to Pennsylvania, first to Path Valley and then to Sinking Valley. There may well be other siblings than James and Robert. James was in Baltimore in July, 1806. His wife died on December 13, 1805 (her name is unknown). He had a son George (who was the head miller at Mrs. Carrol's), a son James (who went south in about 1803) and daughters Dorcas (married a Mr. Thomas), Margery, Lydia and Rebecca (married Thomas Baseley and had at least three children, Samuel, Richard and ?. As of July 1806 only Samuel was known to be alive). Dorcas took in the Baseley children after their mother's death on January 7, 1806. James definitely was using the name Morrow in 1806 and Robert seems to have been using both Morrow and Murray at this time. I would appreciate any information on the above named people and/or families. If you recognize the 'shipboard fight' story I would also be interested in knowing about it. Many thanks for your help.
