    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: BillMorrow38 Surnames: Morrow Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/2015.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: To wcmorrow1, reference: ancestors: Robert Morrow b.1840 m. Martha Myers. I'm Bill Morrow, Co-Administrator of the Morrow DNA Testing Project. Your Robert Morrow & Martha Myers are also ancestors of one of our Morrow group members, who has a 12/12 yDNA match with other members of "NC Brothers Group VI". Caution, 12/12 yDNA matches do not constitute kinship but it's a good indication. yDNA 25 marker (and greater) tests do prove kinship. Click onto this link to view our website "Morrow DNA Matched lines": http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~amorrow/morrowdnalines.htm NC Brothers Group VI is down near the bottom of the webpage. You won't learn much from it except later on when a common ancestor for the group is determined, it may very well be your ancestor, also. I did abit of research but couldn't find your Robert Morrow in any census prior to 1870 McMinn Tn. Amelia Morrow Gerlicher, Co-Administrator of the Morrow Group, has a webpage on your Robert & Martha: http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Robert_Morrow_(23) I did find some info on your Martha Myers, that her father was Melmoth L. Myers. Click onto this link: http://www.tngenweb.org/records/mcminn/pg68-162.htm once your into the website, use your edit icon on the top of your screen to "find" the citation, or else scroll down to page 147: "29 Apr 1876 Nancy Myers widow and Lee Myers & Margaret and Robert M. Morrow and wife Martha, heirs of Melmoth L. Myers. Deed Book K, page 147. I can't give you the emails of Group VI, rather, I'll give them your email that they might contact you. If you are interested, you can join our Morrow DNA group, that is, if you are a male born with the surname Morrow, or else you can sponsor a male Morrow from the Robert & Martha Morrow line. The DNA sample needed is a cheek swab, simple and painless. A DNA kit will be mailed to the address of the male Morrow donor. Instructions are included. Tests take about 6 weeks. Your privacy is guaranteed. From now until Dec 31, 2007, there is a $15 discount on the yDNA 25 marker test (which I recommend, it's the lowest test available which proves kinship). That brings the cost down to $135 including mailing the kit to you if you live in the USA. I did look at the 1860 census you mentioned, saw where James Morrow age 60 was born South Carolina, so I will follow that lead and do some looking for you. I couldn't read the name of the lady within the family at the bottom, Mary Ess? Eco?? age 70 born Maryland. Odds are, she is mother-in-law? 15 year old male with her, couldn't read his name either, born Illinois. The wife Sarah age 30 born Ohio is not likely to be the mother of your Emeline. Need to find James Morrow in the 1850 census to help clarify things. I'll reply again later. Bill Morrow Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My husband's ggrandmother was Emeline Morrow b 5 Nov 1842 married William Debent Purcell in 1864 at Peoria, Peoria County, IL. I finally located her father, James Morrow, last night in 1860 census for Peoria. He was quoted as 60 years of age and his wife Sarah A. was 30. I have an idea they were Capt Samuel Morrow and Elizabeth Carmichael. They were married 1766 in the Cane Breaks area of Abbeville. Capt Sam was killed by a neighbor Tory c1788 (just typing early in am from memory). Eliz appears in 1790 census as Elzbt ? Morrow living next to Carmichael widow in SC census, can't remember the county/ district, probably Abbeville. Capt Sam Morrow was a different person from "Old Samuel Morrow" who died 1796 in Spartanburg District SC. Over the years things got garbled. Author: kissin_kin Surnames: Morrow, Foster Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/1822.4.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I've been reading all this information about Old Samuel and the rest and thinking that the conjectures based on the DNA evidence make perfect sense. They also make a shambles out of my database! I, too, believed that I descended from the old guy by his daughter Jane. This Jane Morrow (and it's looking more and more like she wasn't Old Sam's daughter, that he was not fruitful and did not multiply)was supposedly born in 1757 (I'm not sure of anything any more) and married James Couples Foster in 1779. James and Jane's second son was named Samuel which, according to the naming custom, would mean that Jane's father was named Samuel. Does anyone have any idea who this Jane's father was? His will, written Nov. 5, 1692, and proved May 16, 1693, names wife Ann, and the children and grandchildren here listed. According to Our Tennesee Cousins, by Worth S.
