Below is our "join page" link. Click onto the link with your cursor, you'll be taken to the webpage. Read the rest of my posting first, tho. When filling out the info on email, please use your email address, that way you'll be the sponsor and all emails from the testing company and/or myself and Co-Administrator Amelia Morrow Gerlicher will come to you, you'll be "in the loop" on knowing the progress and results of the yDNA testing. If you think the donor will be interested, you can also show his email address. Please show the full name and home address of the male Morrow who will be the donor. Select your type of payment (either by credit card or invoice). As to the "type of test", I recommend as a minimum the 25 marker yDNA paternal test, it is needed to prove kinship, the 12 marker does not, it only proves who is "not" kin. There is a "pull down tab" at the bottom of the first page which shows all the various tests available. The cost for the 25 marker test is $148 plus $2 mailing the kit to the home address of the donor. The donor will have to pay to mail the kit back to the lab (about $2). No other hidden costs later on, this will be all you'll be out. If money is a problem, maybe you can take up donations from family members? You might print out the above instructions to read while you are filling out the join page, after printing, then click onto the join page link: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=R92350 Any questions, let me know: billmorrow1938@sbcglobal.net Hey, any readers can also use this join page link if they wish to join. Author: sugan1 Surnames: MORROW Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/2032/mb.ashx Message Board Post: We are aware of at least 3 generations of the MORROW family, originally from Belfast, that had the middle name Crayton/Crighton/Creighton. Our eldest known ancestor Robert C Morrow (no 1) was killed in 1918 on active service in WW1, aged we believe around 38 Years. He left a widow and five children. The five children were David, Robert Crighton (no 2 ) , Jimmy/James, Bella and Sarah. We believe that David and Bella remained in Belfast, Robert Crighton (no 2 ) was born around 1903 and moved to Lancashire England and married there in 1924; Sarah went to Canada and so too did Jimmy, but he later joined his brother in Lancashire. Robert Crighton Morrow (no 3) was born in Lancashire in 1926 and his descendants are keen to make contact with their distant relatives. I would welcome any further leads on this family that originated from ULSTER, but especially from anyone that has the name Crighton/Crayton/Creighton attached to the MORROW surname. Your James Morrow is included within our Morrow Group VI, as seen on this website: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=morrowdna&id=I529 As you can see, Joseph Maxwell Morrow is shown with your James. The father and/or common ancestor of this group is unknown at this time. My recommendation is to join our group, have your yDNA tested, and that will prove or disprove your current research. Most likely it will prove it. If you are unfamiliar with DNA testing, here's a previous posting of mine "Top Ten Reasons To Join the Morrow DNA Testing Project" http://genforum.genealogy.com/morrow/messages/3927.html Here's our website, go there and learn more about our group: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~amorrow/morrowdna.htm If you wish to join, below is our "Join page" link. I recommend the yDNA 25 marker test as a minimum, it proves kinship. There's a pull down tab at the bottom of the join page which shows the various tests, the 25 marker is the 2nd listed. The cost is $148 USA plus $2 to mail the DNA kit to your address. Instructions are included, it's a cheek swab, simple & painless. Tests take 6-8 weeks. http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=R92350 By joining, if your yDNA matches Group VI, at least you'll know your current research is correct and you'll be able to correspond with and work with those donors you match in your future research... Author: jodomo07 Surnames: Morrow, Grisham, Mcclure, Snelson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/2031/mb.ashx Message Board Post: James Morrow was born in North Carolina in 1782. He married Sarah (probably Grisham) and had a couple of children there b4 moving to Ohio around the War of 1812. James lived in Ohio about ten years having several Ohio born children b4 moving to Missouri in the early 1820's. He remarried to Alis Mcclure in the early 1820's as well. His sons were Snelson, Benjamin, Thomas, Richard, Joseph, Robert(my line), John Clark, and John Mcclure Morrow. His daughters were Minerva, Margaret Ann, Sarah, and Elizabeth Morrow. He died in Cole County, Mo in 1858. James is my great great great grandfather and is just as great of a brick wall to me. I have seen several other family trees that declare his father's name was Richard and a biography of a grandson of James allegedly exists substantiating this. I have a loose theory that he may be the brother of Joseph Maxwell Morrow of Gasconade and later Adair County, MO, as Joseph married a Snelson, James named his first son Snelson, and th! ey both had a father named Richard. Anyone else out there know anything about my ggg-granddad? RSVP. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
