He and I share the same PEDEN/MORTON/MORROW line and he has been VERY helpful in providing information on our ancestor as we work to update the book The Pedens of America. DNA testing is just one research tool in the research arsenal. It is unfair to suggest that it is anyone's total answer to researching the MORROWs or any other family. In fact, it would be pretty boring without the accompanying interesting family details good research -- and Bill -- provides. Author: bbuckley8 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/1287.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm more upset by you guys support then I am by the constant charging for my work. Right now, because I volunteered my family information that we had tracked down, someone is being put to the decision of whether or not to pay for a membership. Where as if this message board did what irc chat boards due, two people could have a conversation on family notes in private for free, and help one another. DNA projects are fine, I believe they do great things, I just don't think they should be brought up every time someone asks for help in tracking down a relative lead, I mean they're posted everywhere, and have more then enough messages of their own, that they shouldn't be added as a response to people's requests on specific info. If I ask for Morrow's from Butler County PA, I don't want to hear to take a DNA test, I want to hear from people who is researching that for free. My opinion, and being from the U.S. I'm still entitled to it, don't like what I have to say....don't rea! d my messages. But honestly, Bill the work you do, all of you do, I respect, and am happy is an option for people, and I hope you continue to help a lot of people, just there's a place for it. I know from personal experience that many people have learned that they were looking in the wrong place until they found a DNA match. Author: BillMorrow38 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/1287.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: bbuckley8, I'm Bill Morrow, I recommended that researchers of this line might try DNA testing since they are having problems with their research. DNA testing is a new tool for genealogists, proving biologically who's really kin to whom. And no, DNA testing is not free. Neither is genealogy. I don't get paid anything nor receive anything from the DNA testing. I volunteer my time and work, trying to help any person asking for help. I have helped hundreds of researchers since 1980. I noticed you have two postings on this forum so I see you are a newbee and probably don't know how much DNA testing helps in genealogical research. I really feel offended by your remarks. Author: virginiacrossetts07 Surnames: MORROW LEDDON Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/2038/mb.ashx Message Board Post: William Henry Morrow and his wife Margaret/Margret Leddon were my great grandparents. They lived in Baltimore, Maryland during the middle of the 19th century. I near as I can figure he was born abt. 1849 and she was born abt. 1852. They apparently had 7 children, 5 of which survived, Margaret aka Maggie, William Henry aka Will, Charles Thomas aka Charlie, Thomas Peregrine Wroth aka Tom aka Granddaddy Morrow BORN 1880 and Eliza Jane. I'm trying to go back through the Morrow generations but can't seem to get further back than William H. and Margaret Leddon. My father gave me the impression that there may be a French connection and I have the feeling there is an Irish and/or English connection. I know William H. had to have parents BUT can't seem to make the LEAP to find them. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. 1. Re: [MORROW] Mary Morrow, b. ca. 1802 of VA and later MISSOURI...
    2. Espiritu76
    3. Thanks for that website... MY POINT IS: Don't believe everything you find in the IGI records.. read below!!!! I did some browsing for my 3rd great grandparents, MARY MORROW who m. Leonard Stump ca. 1820 in Hardy Co. VA (WV). But I can't believe the errors... One IGI record says that Leonard was born ca. 1770-80 or so.. and that he died by 1826.. NOT SO!!! There was another Leonard Stump who did live and die about that time. It has been established that he was either an uncle or a cousin.. but definitely not my Leonard Stump, III who m. Mary MORROW. Another record has what seems to be the correct info.. Leonard Stump was b. ca. 1799 in Hardy Co. VA and Mary MORROW was b. ca. 1802. They married ca. 1820 in Hardy Co VA. (NOT IN THE IGI RECORDS that I can find) They shortly thereafter moved to Gasconade Co. MO where in1850 a large family is listed. Their oldest known son was my gg grandfather, James Perry Stump, who was born in VA before they moved to MO. He m. Sarah J. Rogers in Osage Co. MO (where her father was a judge). They lived in Gasconade Co. where father Leonard and James got land from the Gov't.. (see Missouri BLM)... James was in the Mexican War I found this listed on a military record card in the MO archival records but I can't seem to find any other info on his role in the war.. ??? James died shortly after 1860.. Was he in the Civil War? I haven't found anything to confirm or deny??? At one time I seem to recall he died of a wagon injury.. but I can't find that info anymore??? Not sure where I got that.. but I found his estate sale advertised in a St. Louis paper shortly after his death. He and Sarah had 1 son, Martin Stump (a family name of hers) and 6 daughters. (I descend from one of the youngest daughters, Arlevia who m. David J. Lemons of MO.) Sarah Rogers Stump later married a James Beasley and had 3 more daughters.. Leonard and Mary's son, Gideon was in the CW. I found a record where he died in Arkansas due to CW injuries. He never married as far as we know...he was quite young. Another son, Thomas Benton Stump has descendants who still live near Gasconade Co. MO (also my childhood home territory), I think in the Pulaski Co. area. My quest is now to find the parents of MARY MORROW, b. ca. 1802... Any ideas from the MORROW researchers are VERY MUCH appreciated?
