From the research that I have been able to carry out I was able to find out that this Hugh travelled into Sydney on his own. Other Hugh Morrow's came with their families.i agree that the name McNair is not on the Georges listing. The ships information according to the Archives office is on "Reel 402" and Hughs name was on the second page. If anyone wants a copy I can email it to you. Now hyperthetically, if this Hugh Morrow is not my great grandfather who is he?? According to my DNA results my descendants are placed in Pennsylvania where Hugh came from. Author: HelenJon Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/2025.4/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Jeff, Janette and Peter, I am not related to Hugh but keep information on the Australian Morrow families, so have been interested in this thread. I have noticed there is a discrepancy between the supposed date of arrival of Hugh in NSW (1855), and the time since Hugh and McNair had left the US according to the McNair letter - in 1857, McNair had been on a whaler for over 3 years, which is not consistent with arrival in 1855. Sure enough there is no passenger McNair on the "Georges" However, an H. Morrow and an H. W. McNair arrived at Melbourne, Victoria in May 1853 aboard the "Glance". This is consistent with the information in the letters, and it is also very likely that people coming to the goldfields in Australia, would come to Victoria (note that McNair was again in Victoria, in Yackandanda, when he replied to the letter). Cheers, Jon Martin. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Linda, I can't answer the question as to who Five Morrow Men covers. However, a descendant of your ancestor James M. Morrow m. Frances Hester joined the Morrow DNA project. I am told he is the son of William Morrow m. Rutha, who settled in Polk Co, MO before 1850. He matches what we call Group 6, which is a collection of families that, in several cases, moved from North Carolina to Missouri. Author: CherylCritchfield Surnames: Bennett Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.morrow/2098.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks for the information. I did have some of it but didn't have the names of all the children. Are you descended from this couple? If so, I can share the photo that we have and I have copies of letters that Margaret E wrote to her brother and wife that I can share. If not, do you know any living descendents of this couple that may have more information to share on the Bennett side?
