I'm really not sure but I do know it was in Texas. She was the oldest girl, there were 11 children. All I know is the Father had a peg leg supposedly from a war, and was called "PEG". the mother was suppose to be Cherokee Indian. I know the sisters names and only a couple of the bros. If you find out anything that I can use I would be grateful. When I was little my grandmother showed me a book of Morrows and if memory serves me the surname of Travis...wish I had that book. Could they be related? I'm certainly not prepared to say no. I have my doubts regarding direct ancestry. "My" Charles was born in Ireland -- at least a variety of census records (his own and his children's) say so. He also was born in 1782, according to his grave marker, which makes it unlikely his father was involved in the Battle of Long Island (which took place in 1776). On the other hand, I find it plausible that cousins of some degree, from first cousins to fairly remote kinship, might have migrated to areas within reasonable range of each other. After hitting a brick wall on Morrow relatives I have been grasping at straws for several years. I am interested in your references to a Charles and a Nancy in the vicinity of Washington CO, PA. I am descended from a 4th GGF named Charles Morrow who was taken prisoner of war by the British during the Battle of Long Island, NY during the Revolution. He died the day he was going to be exchanged and is buried outside of Pittsburgh. He had a daughter Nancy who married my 3rd ggf James McKee of Indiana Co, PA Could these possibly be related to your Charles and Nancy? Perhaps the previous generation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. There were several different Morrows, relationships uncertain, who settled in the same area. Some were in Washington County, PA, just east of Ohio County, VA (now WV). I know little of them. Ann Morrow Lindberg's Morrow ancestors (starting with Alexander Morrow) lived, at least briefly, in Ohio County. Many Morrows, including me, have stories of kinship to her. In my case, I think those stories are probably wrong. Other Morrows, including my three-greats grandfather, settled in Belmont County, OH, just west of Ohio County, VA. Family tradition -- lacking documentary evidence -- is that my ancestor, Charles Morrow, also was from County Down. Charles settled initially in Bucks County, PA, about 1800, from which he was drafted to serve in the War of 1812. After the war, he moved to Ohio -- briefly in Steubenville, Jefferson County, then permanently in Hunter, southern Belmont County. Family tradition also says he had a brother and sister, Tom and Jenny. Irish-born Thomas Morrow and his wife, Jenny, lived in Flushing, northern Belmont County. Again, evidence of an actual connection is unproven. Finally, Irish-born John Morrow lived in Laings, Monroe County, OH, not far south of Hunter. Charles, Thomas, and John were close enough in age to be brothers and all three lived into their 80s or 90s -- unusually old for their era. Your Ann and Nancy are of the same generation. Any actual connections remain conjecture. Evidence of any links would be terrific.
