VA(WV) census that I found the "Fowler" listed. I didn't know that the Morrow Farm was willed to a Fowler. Was this the same farm as Elizabeth Elder Morrow and husband James Morrow lived on? The thing that "gets" me is that in the 1850's John Elder will and land grant he's a "Fowler" and in the 1850 TC Census he's "Fowler" but in 1827 when Elizabeth Elder marries him it's under "Morrow" and then after 1850's back to "Morrow". Every time I work on this mystery I get a headache..LOL...so I just grab an aspirin and pick up on it later...:>) Could James Fowler have been adopted by the Morrow's??? It's the only thing I can come up with right now, not a very good theory maybe.

The child after Wiliam is Sarah J (Salie) b ca 1836 m Dec. 1, 1836 ytol Thomas Strother, Son of William and Bidget Strother. Elizabeth is really Emily Eliazabeth b. Aug, 27, 1843, d. Mar. 1, 1879 in Taylor County, WV. It seems to me, that for some reason or the other this man used two names, Morrow and Fowler. The Morrow farm in Harrison County was willed to FOWLER. Go figure!

I am trying to connect two Morrow families or at least find out how my Morrow connects to the BIG picture. I descend from Mary Morrow b.abt. 1760+/- m.abt. 1786 to John Marlin b. abt. 1750+. They were from Londonderry Ireland, Maghera Parish. Their son John Morrow Marlin b. 1795 m. Rachel Graham and they came to Chester S.C. they had 15 children. The most of them ventured to White Co. IL. Three Marlin girls married Adams brothers. However, here is where I'm trying to connect my Mary Morrow. Two Marlin boys married Wylie sisters. Daughters of Peter Wylie and Elizabeth Morrow. (Born Chester S.C. died Bloomington IN) Elizabeth Morrow is the daughter of Joseph Morrow and Jane Wylie. Joseph Morrow was born abt. 1760 and according to a document states Antrim Ireland. Somehow, this Joseph Morrow HAS to be related to my Mary Morrow. VA/WV. I do know Edgar Elder and know about his info in his book concerning the Morrow and Fowler controversy. Another researcher and I are attempting to figure out this little mystery unless I'm being completely dense here..LOL... #1 Elizabeth Elder d/o John Elder and Margaret McHenry married James Morrow in HC in 1827 as the record reads. THen in John Elder's 1850 will he indicates her name to be "Elizabeth Fowler" . In the property records of Taylor Co. VA/WV John Elder and his second wife Agnes grants land to "James Fowler .....with love and affection". In the Taylor Co. VA/WV census appears: James Fowler age 45 born Tennessee Elizabeth age 50 born Tennessee Ralph age 20 born Tennessee John age 18 born Tn William age 16 born TN (unreadable female) age 14 born TN Margaret age 10 born TN Nancy (could be Mary)age 8 born TN Elizabeth age 7 born TN Also I have seen other Morrow researchers having James and ELizabeth Morrow as having a child Margaret born 1870....this is not correct as ELizabeth would have been 69 when this Margaret was born.....nope...... I am in the process of talking to Edgar Elder about this but haven't sent it out snail mail to him (he prefers to correspond this way) Can anyone clear this up? Jana
Bill, I, too, am from Oklahoma. Born in Okmulgee. Do you have anything on St. Francis (Saint Francis, Frank) and Sarah Paralee Woodley Morrow? His father was Tommy Morrow....that is all I have....who married Cynthia Foster. I can find no proof of Tommy & Cynthia other than family info. Thanks for any help you might be able to provide.
