His wife Emily Elizabeth Smith/ Short/Rodgers/Lemons 1843, who were her parents she lived with her Grandparents George and Mary Ann Smith.
I see so many questions about the Morrow's after S.C. so I thought I'd post this about my Joseph Morrow. After the death of his father, his mother, Jane Wylie Morrow moved with Joseph and family to central Mississippi. He was a vet of the Revolutionary War. His family along with several other Scots/Irish families all relocated about the same time (when the indian territories opened in Alabama & Miss. They went to Perry County, Alabama, where other family members had already settled. Whether or not Jane Wylie Morrow stayed in Perry County with other members of the family or died enroute to Neshoba Co. Mississippi with son, Joseph Morrow, is unknown. Joseph Jr. first paid taxes in Neshoba Co, MS in 1839. He could have been there a year earlier. His brother, David Morrow, first paid taxes in Neshoba Co in 1841. Only Joseph is listed on 1840 Neshoba Co. census. Settle southwest of Dixon, Neshoba Co. MS and owned a large farm. There he reared nine known children and one granddaughter. On his property, a cemetery was established known as the MORROW cemetery. Now, regarding the query about John Clark and his wife Elva (Elvina, Elvira). I have a Margaret ELVIRA Morrow b.1850 d/o David Morrow and Mary Wilson who were married in Perry Co. AL both being born in S.Carolina. They both died in Neshoba Co. MS. Margaret is the granddaughter of the above mentioned Joseph Morrow. Odds are this Elvira Clark is the Elvira Morrow Clark. There were just TOO MANY MORROW's arrrrrggggggg!!!!!!!! I have a William Morrow b. abt 1756 in Camden S.C. I believe that Camden was also known as 96 District and is now Chester Co. S.C. I have no further information on him other than his father was David Morrow b. 1731 and married to Agnes White Crockett. William had brothers John; Joseph; Samuel; David; Adam; George; Richard; James; Thomas and sister Margaret. This Morrow line married several WYLIE's. I think we've talked before. I have no Wallis/Wallace but have Walker/Morrow marriage as well as a Walker/Wylie marriage. But am sure they have to be in the same families and I have no marriage for this particular William. Any information would be appreciated: John Morrow b. 1830 SC. John was found on the 1850 Marion Co. GA census, living in the home of James Clark and his wife Elva (Elvina, Elvira). James Clark b. 1809 SC Alva b. 1811 SC Surname unkn. James came to Marion Co. GA in 1830 or earlier. James most likely gained his land from the 1827 GA Land Lottery. John did not appear on the following census. I have assumed that he had migrated on to AL and points west as many people did when in Marion Co GA. Question: Could John Morrow have any family connection to James Clark or his wife Elva? SC is a long way from Marion Co. GA located in the SW part of GA near the state line. Additional information: James Clark also had two Kidd children b. in SC living with him at the same time as John Morrow was in the household. William Kidd stayed in Marion Co. GA after marriage in c. 1854. His sister, Rebecca Jane Kidd, stayed in the Clark household until she married shortly after the 1870 census. She moved to AL. Nora
I have Robert Morrow son of Rev. David Morrow of Carolina Co. Va. who was b. 1755 m. Elizabeth Shaw in 1799. Robert died 1824 in Warren Co. TN. His son Robert Morrow Jr. b. 1795 either in TN or NC m. 1st Julia Simpson of Virginia then 2nd Elizabeth Joyner. However, can't imagine this is the same person. I have listed 7 children w/Julia and 8 with Elizabeth...... Whew busy boy! Anyway, Robert Jr. died 1849 (no wonder) in Greene Co. MO. He had a son Robert Alexander Morrow (by Elizabeth Joyner) b. 1846 in Ozark, Greene Co. MO who married Martha Ellen Gammon b. 1851 in MO. Their kids were born between 1869 and 1887 and are: Charley; Cora; Edward; Cissy; Thomas; Earla (Eugenia); Jessie. Robert Jr. and Elizabeth Joyners are: Martha; Marianne George; Monroe J.; Thomas Benton; Elizabeth Josephine; Robert Alexander. births btw 1831-1846 Robert Jr. and Julia Simpson's are: Mary; William Lockhart; John; Isaac Newton; R.D.; Alexander M.; Lafayett Jackson. births bts 1817-1825 Robert Sr. and Elizabeth Shaw's are: George; Margaret; Elizabeth; Hugh; Elizabeth II; Mary; John; Robert Jr.; Jean; Alexander Martin. births btw 1780-1801 Robert Sr. fought for N.C. My ancestor, William Morrow, died in Warren Co., TN c. 1828. His estate sale record was filed in January 1829. I believe he had a son named David and the first records I have for William are land transactions in Buncombe Co., NC from 1798 to 1807. I believe that he moved to Buncombe Co. from Newberry or 96 District of South Carolina. His family was closely associated with the Jays & Wallace/Wallis families and his daughter, Ann, married William Wallace on 12 August 1808 in Barren Co., KY. Any help to flesh out this Morrow family would be greatly appreciated. Jerry Spencer Grapevine, TX Janean Ray wrote: >I have Robert Morrow son of Rev. David Morrow of Carolina Co. Here's a million dollar question: has anyone ever been able to determine whether the Morrows who followed a common path (i.e., Carolinas>Missouri>Arkansas>Texas, or similar migrant path) are closely related? HI Janean, Have I missed the boat somewhere? I have lots of John Morrow's. But not in the South......they are a whole different breed down there. Ours begin with a John born in July in 1776, Old Colony, NY. Have no idea even after 20 some odd years who his parents were. He married a Mary Johnson by 1795 in NY. They had 9 children and John often called Charlie was #3 and married a Mary unk . Their son John md Mary Ann SHOUP.. Their children were 11 and John #1 b 1853 in Logan ILL md Mary C SAVAGE. Their son, Morgan John, known as Jack was b May 1895 in Gorman OR. He Md Hazel Brown and they had three sons. #1 named Darrell, my husband b Dec 7 1921. b in Tygh Valley, OR. [ #2 son was Jack.] We have four and one adopted, all girls except for #1 who is a David. There is a John b 1883, John William b 1884, a John David 1878, John 1818, have a couples John's with Morrow mothers, Both John and Mary [our first] died while some of the children were quite young . They were then sent to Ohio to live with an elder sister who had married before the fevers had taken the parents. Your message sounded as though yoou were researching a lot of Morrows. Just these few are enough for me. Should have begun this many many years before I did. -----Original Message----- From: Janean Ray [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, April 05, 2004 7:44 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MORROW-L] Re: Taney Co.
