I have been at this (genealogy) just over a year now, and have found my g-grandfather Robert Wallace to be the proverbial "brick wall", the phrase I have learned to hear about in this research. A cousin (a William) has been searching for Morrow's for at least a decade, but so far has chosen to share only minimally. What I have learned from him is that Robert Wallace had a half-brother, George, a physician, who is buried in Portville, NY, a place where at least one daughter of Robert's married, and I think another is buried, though there is conflicting information on that last. At least one son was married in Olean, NY. This is just sheer speculation on my part, but William is an extrememly common name in the family, and George does not appear again, so George may be the only half-brother or sibling, and in fact Robert may even have been adopted. George's will was supposedly probated (though I do not know where) an! d nothing was learned about Robert. I also assumed that Rachael and Susann are full siblings, only because their married names are known. I am in possession of Robert Wallace's Bible, but there is nothing in there that yields even a hint of a clue to his past. Both Robert Wallace and his wife Sarah Sutton are buried in Tidioute, Warren Co., PA. Another g-granddaughter of Robert's, a second cousin to the two of us, supposedly did enough research to prove herself into both the DAR and Mayflower Societies, but that was through another line (Sutton), the point being that she researched family history and apparently found nothing of Robert either. From what research I have done, I find her name left in local historical societies (letters and other correspondence), and am assuming that she found what I have so far, but since she passed away and left the results of her work to William, I shall probably never know. Lastly, another thing that caught my eye was the reference to a map, and was wondering if you are in possession of that also, and, if so, if that would be something you would be willing to share also. Sponsor means you will be the intermediary between the Morrow male donor and the Morrow group, perhaps use your email address to join, make payment, and send and receive email in behalf of the donor. This is in cases where the donor does not have an email address or prefers a sponsor use theirs in his behalf. I myself sponsor a cousin in my Marshall line. I used my email address to sign him up and handled payment for the testing and I send and receive email messages in behalf of my Marshall cousins. So any descendant/researcher may use their email address to sign up the Morrow male of their line, & handle payment & email messages, etc. We leave it up to the sponsor & the donor. Female researchers may sponsor either their fathers, brothers, cousins, spouses or male friends who have a Morrow surname by birth. Y DNA is passed from father to son, and basically remains the same for centuries. Thus only male Morrows can be used in the testing for Morrow Y DNA. This is not a "total DNA" test, and thus is alot cheaper. Only Y DNA is tested. Results are kept confidential. Your privacy is guaranteed. A kit is mailed to the address of the donor, containing two plastic swabs and two vials. Only a cheek swab is needed from the donor. Simple and painless. You brush inside your cheek and place the swab ends in each vial and mail back to the lab. Testing takes about five weeks. The purpose for Y DNA testing is to compare "Marker" number results with other participants, looking for a match. When the Y DNA markers match from two or more donors, it proves they all have a common ancestor back in their lineages. If no match occurs with you, at least you know not to research the other donor lines. The Morrow Y DNA group now has 11 members, all from varied lineages. We began last year, and hope to gain many more members, the more the merrier. We hope to eventually establish various lineage "groups" of those whose Y DNA matches. The costs begin at $99 plus $2 mailing for a 12 marker test, per each participant. Most of us opted for the 25 marker test at $169 plus $2 mailing fee.
