    1. Re: [MORRISSEY] MORRISSEY in Tipperary
    2. Cathy, There are 3 listings for a Michael Morrissy within Griffith Valuation in Toragh. Two listings come under townlanda and occupiers and the third is under immediate leassors. The interesting thing is that in one case Michael Morrissy and Denis Morrissy have a bracket connecting them as occupiers. Their immediate leassor is Sir John J. Fitzgerald, Bart. When I saw that I thought that Michael could be Denis' brother. I contacted Deirdre Walsh at the Bru Boru Cultural Centre and asked if Michael was also a son of Patrick Morrissy, who I believe to be my gr.gr.gr. grandfather. She said he wasn't. Still I think he must fit in somehow. Patrick Morrissey is leasing a house and garden on a small bit of land from Michael Morrissey. Michael Morrissy also is an occupier listed by himself. His Immediate lessor is Sir John J. Fitzgerald. There is a Pat Morrisey listed in the Tithe Applotment in Toragh also. He has only 1 acre of land just as on the Griffith Valuation. This leads me to think that both Pat and Patrick are one and the same. There is a Dennis Morrisey listed here too, so perhaps this Dennis is a brother not a son? I don't see any Michael Morrisseys listed in this record. Denis who is the son of Patrick was baptised in 1819, so that makes him similar in age to your Michael. Torah is NW of Cashel, about 5 miles or so away, I think. I don't know if this Michael is your Michael, but I wonder who he was and how he fits in also. Also I didn't see any Thomas Morrisseys in Toragh. Sincerely, Kris (Monigal) Kurtz Oak Creek, WI USA
