I do not see a direct connection... My John Morrissey was born cia 1832 in New York. (I'd love to find this birth certificate, but with such an early date - I doubt it exists) census says parents were from Ireland (no further information). (I believe he was married twice) 1 - Catherine McNulty born Ireland cia 1841 - her parents born Ireland (no further in formation). They had 2 known children in New Orleans ( Mary Margaret cia 1864 and Thomas E cia 1866. By 1870 they show up in the Manitowoc County census with a Wm cia 1868, born WI. (here comes the confusing part) in 1870census a Ellen Morrisey ( and Mary and Thomas and Wm) shows up in their household born 1856 in Wisconsin (but I believe JOhn and Catherine to be in New York or New Orleans in 1856 and Catherine would have only been 15 years old). in the 1880 census there is no Ellen Morrissey and Catherine is no longer listed, but replaced with a Mary born cia 1854 born Ireland. Anyhow John dies JAN 1884 in Maplegrove, Manitowoc County, WI. Mary Margaret marries Patrick Cohen/Cowen/ Coen/Cohn. They rasie family and die in Maplegrove. I do no know what happens to Thomas, Wm or Ellen. I'm going to try to find them on the census again (2manitowoc.com). I plan a trip up there next month. Do you (or anyone) have any ideas on how I can procede? I seem to have so little to go on and a big mystery (2nd wife Mary and Ellen - marked as daughter) in the middle of what I do know.
