Mike, Clonoulty is about 5 mi northwest of Cashel. Toragh is adjacent to Glenough Lower & near by Ballagh, Rossmore, and Dundrum for example. Yes, I believe that the Daniel Morrissey that went to Australia on the Lady Kennaway was my Margaret Morrissey's brother. He traveled to NSW with their sister, Winifred. Winifred married Thomas Ryan on 8 May 1849 in St. Mary's Church in Sydney. They had a son, Patrick Ryan, who was born 13 Feb.1850 and baptised 21 Feb. 1850 in St. James, County of Cumberland in Australia. His sponsors were Daniel Morricy and Johana Morricy. I found these records in New South Wales Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. http:www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/ At the same time that I was researching the above records, I found Mary Kate Duffin of Nevada who is a gr.gr. granddaughter of Winifred Morrissey Ryan. Her Winifred landed in California in the 1850s. Her husband was Thomas Ryan and their son Patrick who was the same age as the baby born in Australia was listed as being born in Australia on a California census. The most fascinating thing is that I scanned some family pictures to hmary Kate of my ancestors that lived in the west. They were literally dressed in cowboy style gear in some of the pictures. She emailed back and said, "Hey, how did you get my pictures?" She had the very same pictures already. We felt that this pretty much confirmed a relationship between Winifred and Margaret Morrissey. I wrote to Deirdre Walsh at the Bru Boru Cultural Centre and she did find a Morrissey family that I believe is mine. This family lived in Toragh. I've seen various spellings of Tora(h), Toragh. Parents - Patrick Morrissey of Rossmore married Mgt. Ryan of Rossmore on 10 Feb. 1807 in Clonoulty. (witnesses - Darby Morrissey & Tim Ryan) Baptismal information concerning their children who were born in Toragh- 11 Sept. 1809 Ellen (sponsors - Darby Ryan & Ellen Byrne) 10 Dec. 1811 JO (sponsors - Roger Dwyer & Alley Fahy) 15 July 1814 Daniel (his mother is listed as Mary Ryan) (sponsors - Patrick Ryan & Winifred Ryan) 1 Nov. 1816 Winifred (sponsors - Andy Trassy & Cate Ryan) 25 Oct. 1819 Denis (sponsor - Catherine Ryan) *5 June 1825 Margaret (sponsors - Tim Dwyer & Mary Ryan) My Margaret left Ireland during the Famine and ended up in Rockland, Brown, WI by 1852. Her brother, Denis, and sister, Ellen, also settled in Rockland, WI. The only unaccounted for sibling is JO and I'm not sure if JO is a male or female and what happened to him/her. One of the sponsors for Patrick Ryan in Australia was a Johana Morricy. I wonder if this could have been JO or perhaps Daniel married a Johana in Australia. I did not find a marriage for Daniel. My Margaret Morrissey married Maurice Ryan who was from Glenough Lower, Parish of Clonoulty. I have quiet a bit of information on this Ryan family and am definite that they are mine. I think it is more than coincidental that both Margaret and Maurice come from the same parish. I can't prove that this is my Morrissey family beyond a "shadow of a doubt", but the pieces do seem to fit together very well. I believe that they are mine. Sincerely, Kris
