Patrick Morrissey (1) 1757- 1828 & Mary O'Gorman. Patrick was lured to Ballymakea from a county approx 8 miles away due to his taking of the Blacksmith's trade. He was given a lease by the landlord of 50 acres. the foundations of his old house still stand today. It is said that Patrick's grandfather fought in the losing side of the battle of Aughrim in 1691. The were small freehold farmers, but after the loss fled to Co. Clare. Anybody have anything that might help in the link to Co. Sligo?
