Is the Thomas Morrissey you mentioned the father of Catherine Morrissey? What records do you have for Thomas's other children - just wondering if I can get to the source and also establish exactly who James's parents were. Would be great to find a marriage record. Do you know where these records can be obtained? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. According to Indiana Notice of Intent records, my Morrisey family came from New Ross, County Wexford in 1846. None of the males in the family had any offspring, however. ----- Original Message ----- > I can trace mine to co kerry if your interested

My Morrisseys came from Tipperary, not Galway. Some still live there in Mayfield. I cannot do a DNA test since my Morrissey ancestry came from the female side. If anyone is doing Morrissey research in Tipperary I would be glad to compare notes. --- On Thu, 1/5/12, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [MORRISSEY] DNA test volunteer needed To: [email protected] Date: Thursday, January 5, 2012, 2:50 PM This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Galway. I am part of a local voluntary community group, Ireland Reaching Out, searching for people of Irish heritage abroad with a connection to our parish. I taught in Portumna for over thirty years and Morrissey family members attended the school. I'll get in touch with them to see if they are interested in the project. We'd be delighted if you'd also post your messages on the Portumna parish website here: http://www.irelandxo.com/group/portumna. Best wishes and Happy New Year. Galway. I am part of a government-sponsored, local community group, Ireland Reaching Out, searching for people of Irish heritage abroad with a connection to our parish. My reason for writing is to invite you to become part of this exciting new initiative (www.irelandxo.com) and also to invite you, your family and friends, to a very special celebration in June 24th-30th, 2012. In June 2012, the parish community of Aughrim will be part of a Week of Welcomes festival. Activities will include visits to ancestral townlands, talks on local history and tours/leisure activities in the local South East Galway area. Throughout this week, participants will be welcomed to the parish, re-introducing them to their communities and place of origin. As a nominated Week of Welcomes co-ordinator, I have been asked on behalf of the people of the parish of Aughrim to invite you and members of your family to this exciting event. We hope our invitation is of interest and that you will want to learn much more. We look forward to hearing from you. Please visit our website www.irelandxo.com for more details.
