Pam, Thank you for the assist. This is the right LACKEYs. I found some obits where William is the speaker the other night too. From my gr gr Aunt Alma (Sister Mary Pachomia) records from the convent were clues leading to Davids brother (William) and a marriage of his sister to a G M IVY of Union County Arkansas. A letter was sent from LACKEY from Madison Co to IVY confirming the birth of David. The same letter gives clue to David's father, a R LACKEY, possibly Rubin from the 1850 Madison, Missouri census. Apparently, R LACKEY, G M IVY and L D IVY were the uncles of Doniphans (?) R C BARRETT The LACKEYs are from Alabama some where. The first four children of R Lackey and Anne Moore were born there. This connection is one of my dead ends but I notice you believe something about Jackson Co Alabama. Finally there is a big Tennessee connection. In the letter I reference above, Uncle Bill" (William) brought the letters back from a family reunion in Chattanooga. I've never met a Lackey to this day. It would be nice to talk to Susie and Sally. I've only been doing this for a month after visiting with my great Uncle. It's addicting for me thats for sure. Thanks again for answering. Have a great day. Not sure if you have census records already. The "History & Families of Ripley Co., MO" pg. 258-259 has a bio on the brother William C.S. Lackey and does state that "Two Lackey brothers settled in the area. David Thomas Lackey and wife Mary Margaret Winston moved to Doniphan from Dexter, MO in the mid-1880's. In 1901 his daughter Alma Marie graduated from high school and entered a convent near St. Louis. Named Sister Mary Pachomia, she taught mathematics. Her home visits were spent with cousin Boyce Lacky after the death of her parents in the 1930's. Second daughter Lucille went to St. Louis where she married and lived." The rest of the bio is on William C.S. Lackey family. Submitted by Susie Lackey Givens and Sally Lackey Hedges. LACKEY, bro of W.C.S.LACKEY, died in St. Louis Thursday 5 Mar at age 64. Born Jackson Co., AL, but raised in Madison Co., MO. He and bro William were SCS veterans, serving under Price. His wife died in California abt. 1 year ago. Funeral in St. Louis. pg. 212 27 Aug 1908 - Mrs. J.A. Bellissime died at home in Collinsville, IL last Tuesday at age 74. Sister of D.T. LACKEY - used to live here. It's interesting that this family lived in Jackson Co., Alabama, then David born in Illinois and family settled in Missouri. There's evidence of that Tennessee River pathway again. So many took that route on flatboats. Glad to try find other census records if you need them. Pamela G.
