Some people won't bother to read your message unless the subject line catches their eye. I firmly believe that it is their loss, but do try to put something pertinent in the subject line. 3) Post messages in PLAIN TEXT only. Messages not in PLAIN TEST will be rejected and returned to you. List Settings: List Name prepended to subject line. Largest message allowed is 10K. Digests will be sent every 12 hours or 20K, whichever comes first. Three bounces and you will be removed from list. Hitting reply will send your reply to the list. Gateway: The message board for this county/surname is set up so that any messages posted will be forwarded to this list. You will know that it is a message board posting because it will start with this line: "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." Later in the message it will give you a URL for seeing the original post and where you can post a reply. Posting a reply to the list will not benefit the original author of the message board post as chances are, they may not subscribed to this list. Also by posting your response to the message board, a copy of your answer will be sent to the list (so you don't have to do it yourself). The message boards are designed to work in conjunction with this mailing list. I am the admin for all of these functions so that they will work smoothly together to benefit researchers. My goal is to assist researchers by making their "online" research as easy as possible. Forwarded messages: At time I, as ListAdmin, must forward messages to the list. When responding to these messages, please send your reply to the list with a copy to the person I forwarded the message for.
