Surnames: SWANNER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZNB.2ACI/543.1.2 Message Board Post: Kim, I forgot to mention that on my great great grandmother's side there is Indian Blood, but it is Choctaw! Enoch Gray Swanner's wife was Maria Catherine Lucas and her grandmother was listed as "Choctaw woman". "Choctaw Woman" was married to James Lucas Sr.. Maria Catherine Lucas' father was James Lucas, Jr. This may help a little with the Choctaw decent! The Swanners were German or Austrian.... not sure which yet! Most of the Swanners came from the North Carolian area. My great great grandfather, Enoch Gray, also had a half brother, Marshall Green Swanner who settled in the Pemiscot Co., MO area. You could possibly decend from that side of the family! Hope this helped a little anyway! Anne Hart

Surnames: SWANNER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZNB.2ACI/543.1.1 Message Board Post: Kim, I don't know if I can help or not! I decend from Enoch Gray Swanner, son of James Swanner , son of Jesse Sr. Swanner, son of John Swanner , son of Mathias Tobias Swanner of North Carolina. There is a possibility that you may have decended from my great great grandfather also! Enoch Gray had a brother Joseph C. Swanner who came to Missouri with him when James , their father, came by wagon train from North Carolina via Tennessee. They also had a sister Emaline that came on the wagon train. Enoch Gray Swanner had the following children: James M. Swanner, Enoch Claude Swanner, who died in Idaho, Martha Elizabeth, my great grandmother, Louvina F., Nellie V. Swanner b.9-29-1898 d. 10-10-1900, Samuel Robert b. 2-2-1857 d.2-1-1873, Mary Catherine, William Franklin, Evaline F., Maria Etta. They only ones I have any information on are Martha Elizabeth and William Franklin Swanner. I have been in contact with a Karen Matthes, who decendes from James M. Swanner, Enoch and Maria Catherine Swanner's oldest child. At this point, I am trying to re-enter data into my computer as my computer crashed and my back- ups would not work! I have a lot of material, but I need to re-organize it! I will post a message when I get everything back up and running! If you find any information on your branch, I would love to have it! If I discover any information on your Leroy Swanner, I will send it on to your. Good Luck! You can order the social security applications and sometimes find the parent's names listed! Anne Hart

You asked about Catharine Ann Thannisch, I do have a Julianne Cathenne who married A.G. French in 1857, but i have her second marriage to Jackson Patterson, no date. Perhaps she was married three times? Her parents were Joseph Jacob Thannisch and Isabella Sullivan, born 1819 in Lawrence County, Arkansas. I have found so many mistakes in these censuses. On your census, I can account for Joseph and T.M. (Thomas Marion), but i have no "S.R." It shows that he was two years younger than T.M....and my records have a son born two years after T.M....but his name is Lemuel Kittrell Thannisch (my branch). > Also you have J. Thanks! --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "Dr. Richard D. Lewis " <[email protected]> I am actually looking for my ggggrand mother, Nancy Jane Lewis-Lewis born abt. 1824 in White County (?) TN. She was married to William G. Lewis She moved with her husband and family in about 1872 to Hopkins and Union Co KY and then in about 1879 to Texas County (Cabool) MO. About the mid 1870's her husband, William G. Lewis, died in a mishap in Illinois. In about the mid 1880's she had a disagreement with her son-in-law, James Hyder near Cabool (Sargent) MO. One day while he was away, she loaded a wagon with chattels, hitched up a team, and drove from Texas County MO to Riley County MO. She left behind her son-in-law, daughter, and three grown or nearly grown sons. Nancy Jane Lewis must have been heading out to live with some unknown relatives or friends in Riley County MO. It is said that she is buried in Doniphan MO or close-by. Trying to find out anything at all about her. I see on the web page that a Nancy Lewis married a Joseph Hunts on 2 Jan 1886. This might possibly be her. However she would have been about 62 years old. She also belonged to the Primitive Baptist Church (Welch) and was said to be a rather heavy hitting person. I can be reached by my pager at 888-548-2988 or a brief e-mail (500 characters) at [email protected]

    3. If you cna help Ruby with her Cameron ancestors, please e-mail her directly with a copy to the list for the rest of us. Thanks! --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: [email protected] My mother, Lillie Mae Cameron was born in Gamburg, MO (Gamberg??) April 10, 1896. She was the 7th child of James Samuel Cameron and Mary Elizabeth Butler. Other children included eleven Minor, Node (Onie), Edd (not sure of that spelling), Benjamin, Sam, Sherman, Chester, and Dewey. Chester was the last child that was born in Ripley County, November 23, 1898. As far as I know my mother was the first child born in Gamburg, for this family, and the family previously lived in Arkansas and Illinois. We went down the old military road in Ripley County and found Gamburg or what used to be Gamburg. We went to the cemetaries that we could find around Gamburg, ie. Fairdealing, Naylor, etc. and went to the Doniphan Courthouse. We are looking for any death records for my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Cameron (Butler). I have seen in some records that her name was listed as Betty Butler but I do not know if that is correct or not. Butler was her maiden name. We think she died February 20, 1899 around Gamburg, MO. We can not find any records anywhere for her death or for the family's whereabouts until 1910 where we find James Samuel, my grandfather, remarried to a Martha Pace c. 1900. This information was found in the 1910 census. They had one child, Dewey August 16, 1901 born in Success, AR. This information was given to me by a relative who was my mother's cousin.
