    1. [MORIPLEY] re: Payne/McGee/Crook
    2. Jerry, If you would like the PAYNE family information, I am always happy to send my "report" generated by my WFT program on the Payne family. I usually begin this with Daniel Paine d. 1839 in Maury Co.,TN. Before that is available from John C. Payne of Chattnooga, TN ([email protected]). The Paynes in Ripley Co. desc from Daniel's son, Micager Paine and wife Elizabeth Allen. There were 5 sons, who came to - or their children did anyway - in Ripley Co. Micager's widow, Elizabeth remarried in Ripley Co. in 1850 to Timothy Hughes and I've never found them after that. Don't know what happened to Micager. He sold his land in Maury Co. to Henry Oakley in 1841 and may have traveled to Missouri with his sons - they seem to have come through part of Arkansas and he may have died there. His brother Robert also migrated to MO via Arkansas as his son, Wm. Shelby Payne, married in Pope Co., AR to Serilda Park in 1843 and I've wondered if perhaps that is a place to look for Micager's grave. Thank you, Donna, I do have that Parthene Frances Payne #2 marriage was to Thomas Jefferson Crook, but since the book of obituaries only covers to 1910, it does not have her obit as she died in 1931. There is an obit for Lilly B. Crook, mother of Thomas Jefferson Crook. "Ripley Co., Records - Obituaries" by Thelma McManus pg. 96 - 18 Jan 1895 - Mrs. Lilly B. Crook, a pensioner of the Mexican War, died at home of her son, W.A. Crook on Sunday last - age 80 yrs - lived in Flatwoods and long time resident of county. Now, this would tell me that she collected a pension on her husband, William Alexander Crook's Mexican War service. That might be worth sending for. Pamela Geisler Smith Gresham, OR

    3. Hello there, My great great grandfather was 2nd married to Parthenia McGee. His name was Thomas Jefferson Crook. I believe they are buried side by side in the Oak Grove Cem, Ripley Co. Mo. I recently took pics but lost them due to crash of computer. I only live about 2o miles from the cem. and plan to get back to retake pics as soon as I can. Did not know if you had the info on Parthenias' marriage to Crook or not, so thought I would jump in and let you know. Sorry if I butted in. 2. Pam, My gggrandpa William McGee/Magee was the first in my family that I am aware of to purchase the property the Payne/McGee Cemetery is located on abut 1848. He came with his fathers family Lewis McGee and Rhoda (Rody) Beard from Tennessee. William McGee's negro slave girl was among the first to be placed in the McGee Cemetery as it was known then. Rody is among those laid to rest there. I was wondering if the obits you referenced for the Paynes had any McGees/Magees among them besides Parthene's son? Also, do the obits contain other information concerning relatives/ancestors. Parthene Frances Payne was my ggrandmother. Her 1st husband John McGee was Williams son. When John passed away due to a severe case of the mumps at about age 35, Parthene inherited the property which was subsequently purchased by or passed on to the Payne family. As more and more Paynes were laid to rest there, the name was changed to Payne/Magee. Thanks Pam -Jerry McGee

We found the cemetery around Doniphan Mo the McGee/Payne Cemetery and took some pictures of some of the tombstones. I was wondering if you have any info on the obits on any of the Paynes. I know there was a story told in our family about 2 brother in laws fighting and one killing the other and the other name involved was a Brown. I am interested in Parthenia Payne/McGee's obit or Martha J Payne or Miles Payne or Thomas Miles Payne or any of them in that area. Thank you very much. Glenda Payne
