Hi, I read your post and would appreciate if you would check the Wilson School Records for me; The surnames I looking for are HOPPER, RELAFORD and KINKADE/KINCADE/KINCAID. Also I think there was a Sarah HOPPER who married a YOUNG and moved to MO from KY. Thank you, Dyane
For those many Ripley Co. people descended from Daniel and Nancy Paine of Maury Co., Tennesse - I have some new information. I just received a long awaited for file from the NARA regarding my inquiry for the War of 1812 Bounty Land Warrant received by Daniel's widow Nancy. I found reference to this application last Sept. and immediately sent to the Nat. Archives for it. Source: NARA Bounty Land Warrant file #29270 and #14335 There are 2 wonderful letters - I've abbreviated for briefness State of TN, Court of Maury On this 4 Feb 1851, personally appeared before me a J.P for County & state aforesaid, Nancy Pain, aged 78 years, a resident of Maury Co. in state of TN, who being duly sworn declares she is the widow of Daniel Pain who was a private in the company commanded by Captain James McMahan in the Regiment of TN Volunteers commanded by Colonel Lauderdale in Gen'l Coffee's Brigade in the War with Great Britain declared by the US on the 18 Jun 1812. That her said husband volunteered in Maury Co., TN on or about the 3rd day of October 1814 for the term of 6 months and was honorabley discharged at Columbia, TN on or about the 24th day of April 1815 as will appear by ref to the Master roll of said company, she not knowing what he done with his certificate of discharge. She further states that she was married to the said Daniel Pain in the state of North Carolina in Burke Co. on the 24th day of December 1798 by one Elidge, a Minister of the Gospel and her name before marriage was Nancy Pain and that she and her husband were cousins, that her said husband died in Maury Co. in the state of TN on the 6th day of Dec 1839 and she is still his widow. She further states there is no public or private record of her marriage. She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which she may be entitled under the act passed Sept 28th, 1850. (signed by her in very wobbly handwriting) Nancy Panye Apparently she did receive 80 acres of land somewhere - not in Maury Co. that I've found - but she again applied in 1855 when another act was passed for veterans and widows of the War of 1812, saying she had sold the first parcel she received. The second letter is much like the first. It's dated 31 Mar 1855 and she says she's 82, however she changed the date of Daniel's death to 10 Dec 1841. Anyway - this is the first time there are any clear dates at all for Daniel Paine Sr. and Nancy. She was still living in 1860 in Maury Co. in the household of her grandson, Eli Beasely. Eli wrote his own will in 1862 which wording suggests there was still more to come due from his mother's "dower". I would take that to indicate that Nancy Pain was still living and her own estate which came from her husband . . still intact. I think she outlived them all!! I have never found a will in Maury Co. records for Nancy. The bounty land she recieved was not in Maury Co. I will have to make another request for that through the Federal Land Commission Office. <sigh> If anyone would like full copies of the above mentioned 2 letters for their own files, I'd be happy to send them. Email me. Pamela Geisler Smith Gresham, OR

<PRE>In a Separate Book that is the Record of Attendance between the dates of 1938 & 1942 there are Kennons, Smiths & Swifts listed. I believe they are the same names as previously stated.
B Smith I have found in the Clerk's Book Dated May 1902 another listing Charles S Swift is listed under the parent or guardian column. Under the column titled "Name of Children" it lists: Johan Swift 14, dessy Swift 12, Ives Swift 10" May 1903 it lists C Swift; Children as "Richard Swift 18, John 15, Dessy 13, Louis 11" In another book titled "Missouri District Clerk's Record" on page 61 under the title "Annual Enumeration for the Year 1915" it lists George Swift as the parent or guardian of Leo Swift age 12, Chester ---- 9" I don't know what the dashes next to Chester is supposed to mean unless it's supposed to show he is also a swift. Book titled "Missouri District Clerk's Record 210" on page 59 under "Annual Enumeration for the Year 1937" Parent - "G.Swift" Children - "Luther Swift B" (B for boy) Aug. 9, 1923 14-9" (age 14 yrs 9 months) "Marie Swift G Jan 26 1926 11-4" (11 yrs 4 months) Page 63 Annual Enumeration for the Year 1938 "George Swift" Children "Luther Swift Aug 9, 1923 15-9 Marie Swift Jan 26 1926 12-4" "J P Swift" Children - "Homer Swift Feb 13, 1920 14-3; Elsie Swift Feb 20, 1926 12-3; Robert Swift July 14, 1928 10; Ernest Swift Jan 3, 1931 7" "Richard Swift" Children - "Orval Swift Oct 23, 1918 19; Delbert Swift June 25, 1921 16" The date for Delbert Swift looks like it's June 25, but it is hard to read. It could be a 0 or even a 3. Page 65 Annual Enumeration for the Year 1939 "Swift, Geo Luther Swift Male 16; Marie " (the " appears directly under the Swift name under Luther) 13 female" "Swift, Jesse Homer Swift Male 15; Elsie " Female 13; Robert " Male 11; Ernest Male 8" Page 69 of the same year "Swift, Johnny Delbert Swift Male 17" Page 71 Annual Enumeration for the year 1941 - Reads the same as 1939 with the same people listed just older. B Smith, I have found what looks to be either a C.S. or possibly an L.S. Swift listed as the parent or guardian of dessie swift, Lewis, Jessie & Adie (you have to understand this was handwritten in pencil with horrible writing) The particular page I'm looking at is torn out of the book, but I believe it is pre-1920. I will continue to look through my books this evening & post as I find them. If you would like to contact me directly at [email protected] I will be happy to take a digital photo of the pages & email them back to you. Sheila

Betty: I know of three people buried at Lone Star Cemetery. Lee Dickson (Dixon) Mr. Tyler and a child, Marlene Friend. I attended Lone Star School in the early 40's and Marlenes funeral was actually held at Lone Star School, during school hours and the older girls in school were pall bearers. My sister and I walked by the cemetery each day to and from school, so I know it well.
Jerry the att. you tried to send did not come through here either. Try again please. I have a pic. of Thomas Jefferson Crook by himself. I only started all of this about this time last year. My second(?) cousin on my dad's side(Johnny Ezell) has sent me the info that I have. Julia Crook Barnett Ezell was his Grandmother. His Father was James Ezell son of Thomas Irvin and Julia Ezell. Johnny has been researching the family for over 25 years now. Are you related to a HUBERT PAYNE from Ripley Co.?I believe he preached at Fairview church for awhile. I do remember going to his farm and getting to fish on the river. He had THE BEST fishing spot. HAHA. As the Ripley County Coordinator, I can answer your question. The Ripley Co MOGenWeb site consists of information provided by myself and other Ripley County Researchers who are willing to share this information with others. To date, no one has submitted any informaiton on the Lone Star Cemetery. I would be most than happy to add the information to the site. You said that you've been asked to add it to Randolph County. May I suggest that you contact the person(s) who asked you to do so and give them my e-mail address so that they can send me the information. Although I am quite perplexed since my address appears on every page of the Ripley Co MOGenWeb site for those who wish to submit information. If I have misunderstood the question, please let me know. The Ripley Co MOGenWeb site is only as good as the information volunteers are willing to submit. I love Ripley County but do not have the resources to personally research all cemeteries, towns, etc. etc. to include on the website. Thank you Jackie for your most prompt and detailed response. I would like to inquire as to why I do not find this cemetery listed on the line-up of cemeteries on the Ripley Co web site? http://www.rootsweb.com/~moripley/cem.htm I have had a request to list Lone Star on my Randolph County cemetery line-up since it is a cemetery in the neighboring Ripley County. I have been sent some names, but it is apparently a much larger cemetery than what I had suspected. 70-100 unmarked burials makes for quite a large cemetery. Anyone who might know of someone buried in Lone Star and would like to pass the name/names along to me, please do so. [email protected] Thanks so much. Check out my picture on the Ripley County site. It is the Doniphan class of 1932. In the back of my mind I remember my Dad, Art Emmons, mentioning there were Kennon's in his class. You might be able to name another class member.
