She is either the daughter of Thomas E Brown and Dalia Cox; Dalia died bef. 1855 and Thomas remarried Mary D. ? and had Ellen, Docia and George. Children of Thomas and Dalia were Mary Elizabeth, Sarah, William and James. Mary D may have been a STEGALL, daughter of Preston Stegall of TN, who had a son called John- they were living together in 1860. 2. She is the daughter of Elizabeth ? who married a BROWN and had Riley and James (twins), Luann, Judith and Sarah. Her husband must have died c. 1845- in 1848 she remarried William SLATER who died before 1850, or abandoned her- she is alone in 1850 with the children from her first marriage. She also has a Mary Field, 15 yrs old with her. Elizabeth was from GA. The only other possibility is that Sarah moved to KS as a child, before the 1850 census. I plan to check on the county where she was married at that time. I have checked the 1860 census for the Elizabeth Slater and her children, and I cannot find them. Sarah was married at 15 in 1860 in KS. Any ideas appreciated
