Does anyone know if the entire cemetery was lost, or only part of it? A cousin sent me a picture of the Jesse Watson Lane tombstone, taken many years ago. I was just wondering if it, and several others for the Lanes, survived.
A big section of the Hardin cemetery was washed away....they have a plaque with the names of the graves lost....two of mine were gone. I have a photo of one of the gravestones that was not found....probably down to bedrock and 5 miles away.....anyway, they did recover a few and they are standing in a few rows to one side. Best to write the Hardin cemetery and ask about your specific name. Could be it was not in the area destroyed. Only a part of the cemetery was washed away in the flood. I was there a couple of years ago as I have family buried there. They(?) have put up a beautiful large plaque right at the entrance of the Cemetery that lists all of the names of the people who's remains, etc. got out. Perhaps someone in the area could take a photo of it for you??
