    1. [MORAY-CGA] "Sexton's Creek Letter"

    3. Hi, Maybe someone can help me unravel a mystery. I requested a back copy of "Ray County Reflections" (March 1994) because there was an article titled "Sexton's Creek Letter", which was addressed to my Great Great Great Grandfather, Hiram Clark. When I looked at the page the "letter" was on, all that was there was a photocopy of what looks to be the envelope, written with the address and the return address. There is no mention of an actual letter. The text of the article said: "The following was submitted by Betty Hill Gundy and is partly taken from LINN'S STAMP NEWS, Jan. 19, 1994." "This letter addressed to Hiram Clark, Knoxville, Ray Co., Mo. was found on the floor of an abandoned farmhouse in Missouri many years ago. The entire letter consists of a single piece of parchment that has been folded. It is from Sexton's Creek, Ky. June 30th, 1849." (My G-G-G grandfather died a week later of blood poisoning.) My questions are: What is LINN'S STAMP NEWS? Does anyone know where the original letter/envelope might be? Does anyone know if there was a letter found with the envelope? Who found the letter, and where was the abandoned farm house? Is there someone I could be put in touch with that might have these answers? As usual, the more I find, the more questions I have! Thanks, Ronda McCrary
