My g-g-grandfather was Thomas Asbury Kincaid, brother of Mary Ellen Kincaid.

    3. Hello cousin! Thank you for your emails to the list. I would appreciate ANY information you have on the Kincaids and where they came from. I have previously corresponded with another cousin, Deondra ("Dee") Crye, who is Evona's gg granddaughter (I'm cc:ing her on this message.) She remembers her Aunt Nannie (who would be Nancy Kincaid, married to Binner Mason Kincaid, Evona's uncle) talking about her family's move by covered wagon from New York to Missouri. But I believe that would be the Barnham family (Nancy's maiden surname) and not the Kincaids. My brick wall is John Sharp Kincaid, father of Th. Asbury (your gg grandfather) and Mary Ellen (my g grandmother). A census record I tracked down suggests John S. Kincaid was born in Illinois. Re: the book you mentioned. I suspect it might be "Notable Southern Families" by Zella Armstrong, which does indeed have a wonderful list of the descendents of John S. and Elvira (Tunnell) Kincaid, and goes well back on the Tunnell line. I do have a copy of the relevant portions of that book and it has been very helpful. If that's not the book referenced in your g grandfather's letter, I would be interested in knowing more. (By the way, I didn't know that the "M." in "Elvira M. Tunnell" stood for "Mason".) So, thanks again. Any more information on the ancestors of John Sharp Kincaid would be appreciated.
