Thanks to Vivian - reminding me of how lucky I was to have lived in North Kansas City for a while in my childhood. I had a great time there. I remember taking swimming lessons at the "Y", playing kickball in the street in front of my home, (we had plenty of kids in our neighborhood...). We kids would sell lemonade & with the profits, head for a small neighborhood grocery store to buy hot dogs, buns, & marshmallows to cook over a small fire... I doubt parents would allow that nowadays... making "mail boxes" at school, to hold our Valentine cards. - Going to the opening of the Katz Super Drugstore & being given a ballpoint pen! I was thrilled, because inkpens were still very much in use then & my fingers always seemed to be stained. We moved away when I was ten - to the "suburbs" with a lot fewer children... it was lonely there. It is such a surprise to learn that the ASB bridge has a new name & that North Kansas City only covers 4 square miles - it was my favorite universe! Janet Beattie - and the above is part of MY genealogy!
